Chapter one

Is that really you?

Kurama walked trough the halls of his school, looking at those who drew interest. He paused slightly at the call of his name. Worry tinted in their voice. He quickly covered his mysterious voice when answering.

"Yes?" he said turning towards the voice. As he turned to see a large arrangement of roses were placed in front of him. He slightly jumped when he notice that the person who was hold them hands were bleeding, the torns piercing their skin. He quickly removed the flowers from their hands and to his surprise, a girl was standing behind them.

"Miss Risa?" His voice rang through her head, that sweet and innocent voice that she had heard over the years. It never occurred to her that he was wrapping her hand with a piece of his clothing. She gasped when hje was finished and looked at his shirt.

"Do.. do you want me to b-buy you a new one?" Her voice was slightly shaky but she remained her composure. She didn't want to look like a fool in front of the person she claimed she loved.

Kurama shook his head wildly while waving a reassuring hand in front of her. "No, no its fine. Any ways, what are these for?" Kurama asked marveling the flowers. He noticed her head suddenly hang low. Her once bright sea blue eyes were suddenly darkened. Her long midnight hair flowed over her shoulders covering her face. Kurama could hear her sniffle from where she was at.

"You forgot…?" Her voice wasn't as shy as it was before. It held more of a intense sense to it. Her anger was growing through the words she spoke. "YOU FORGOT!"

Kurama twitched slightly at her tone of voice change. "umm.., Miss Risa -" He was cut short when she spoke.

"Today's our anniversary. This is the first day we met 7 years ago? You forgot. But I dont understand, we celebrated it last year and you gave me a gift way before I could think of one for you." Tears started to swell up in her eyes and were threatening to fall.

"oh.., Oh no Miss Risa. I didn't forget I-I just a bit late on the matter." Kurama could tell that she was looking at him. E put his head down in shame for forgetting such an important day. He felt a slight bush of air run past him. He could tall that she walked away, he would have ran after her, but what could he say?

Kurama could feel his friends following shortly behind him. He could tell that they knew he was sad. He wished that they would just hurry up and speak to him. He could practically hear Hiei yelling at kuwabara for stepping on his foot. He chuckled to himself and looked for away to get rid of his friends.

He found a easy route to escape and quickly took it. He could hear his friends yell for him but yet he still continued to run. He hid behind a nearby corner losing his friends, well almost everyone except for Hiei. Who was standing there when kurama stood with his back to him.

"It's not good to keep your back to your enemies." His monotone voice rang through his ears.

"I'll remember that." He said in a low tone voice.

"So why is the fox running from its friends." He asked sitting on the crate.
