Hunger Games 50th

Haymitch woke up from his uncomfortable bed. All across the nation, thousands of other teenagers just like him were waking up for the annual reaping. Only forty-eight of those many thousands would be chosen, and all thousand of those kids had the same anticipation... For this year was not a normal year for the Hunger Games. This year was the twenty-fifth anniversary. The Capitol had thought of the most vial way to celebrate it. Usually only one girl and one boy were chosen from each district. This year two boys and two girls would be chosen. Increasing your chances of being reaped, and making it twice as hard to survive in the arena.
Haymitch got up from from his bed and walked into the kitchen. He glanced at the small wooden table. On it was a single Lilac flower surrounded by leafy green ferns. His mother's way of keeping everyone cheery on this dreadful day. No matter how difficult the situation is, his mother always tried to, stay optimistic. Her optimism was contagious, since Haymitch was smiling already.
There was no food on the table. He looked in all the cupboards and drawers. Empty. Haymitch got ready to find some food. He walked out the door and started for the woods. He carefully crawled under the electric fence. It was buzzy slightly with current, but he was scrawny for his sixteen years of age. He crawled underneath a weak spot and spotted an old tree. He strutted over and reached into the hollow of the tree, pulling out a dirt-green leather bound book. He opened it up and looked at the many herbs and natural vegetation you could find in the forest. He decided on finding a few red clovers to sell to the apothecary. He closed his book and stashed it back into its hollow. Like this book he had several others located in different places in the forest. Some were about poisonous berries, safe to eat vegetation, which trees provide better shelter... ect. Haymitch navigated his way across the forest floor. Jumping over twisted tree roots, kicking away fallen branches, picking berries and popping them in his mouth.. until he came across a patch of red clovers. He brought out a small plastic bag, and attentively started picking them off. Each one was worth ten dollars.. ten dollars to feed his family today, ten dollars to feed his family tomorrow...
Once Haymitch was done, he wove his way back to the electric fence, and checked the current running through. It was running full blast with electricity! This hadn't happened for five years, and the memory was too vile to remember. Haymitch had almost lost his upper leg. You could still see a huge scar on the side of his leg, and sometimes, at odd moments, his leg would sear with terrible pain. Haymitch thought about how he could climb over the fence. In the distance he heard the growling of some kind of animal slowly coming nearer. Suddenly, he saw a wolf peer at him from among the trees. It let out a low growl. Sweat started to slide down Haymitch's face as he desperately thought of a way out of this mess.
