Ginevra Potter was not having a good day; she'd had a bad headache the night before but had assumed that is was the result of the combined effort from her three kids to make as much noise as possible. There had been a multitude of arguments and their lamp had blown up, twice.

The first thing she did after waking up as throe up. As it was the middle of summer and her job as a sports writer or the daily prophet was the busiest it was all year was really bad timing.

Harry of course got up and started worrying at her. Was her article due today? Did the kids need to go over to her mom's? Should she stay home from work?

As politely as she could she told him to shut his mouth or she would hex it shut for him. He looked at her for a second, nodded and told her he'd tell the kids she was sick.

After that lovely exchange she crawled back into bed determined to sleep until her stomach stopped churning and her head stopped pounding. She was awoken by the sound of her kids arguing.

James was insisting that because he was the keeper and the oldest he got to ride dad's broom for their three person quidditch match. Albus argued that he was the chaser so he needed to be faster in order to catch the quaffle.

After hearing this she crawled out of bed, shuffled to the door and shouted with as much energy as she could muster that they all had their own brooms and that they were going to use them.

"Great you guys woke mom up!" Lilly shouted angrily at her brothers. "I told you no one should use dad's broom when he's not here, but you didn't listen"

"No!" James objected, "You're the one who wanted to practice for the quidditch tryouts next year!" he turned to his brother "right Albus?"

"hey, don't look at me, I don't know what Gryffindor tryouts are like. There aren't really that many athletic kids in Ravenclaw. We just kind of sit in a room and pick."

James looked at Albus, it was the first time he had ever heard this, "And that works?"

He sighed "Not really, normally we have to hassle the best flyers into joining."

Lily and James stared at him "What?"

Ginny rubbed her head "kids I have a headache can you please be quiet?" it came out sounding more tired and whiny than she meant it to.

Her kids seemed to instantly pick up on this and bowed their heads slightly and Lilly said "We're sorry mom, go back to bed."

Ginny, too tired to do anything else nodded and headed back to her room. The kids looked at each other and started talking again, this time their arguments hushed.

When Ginny woke up Harry had gotten home from work and was gently shaking her awake.

She mumbled a groggy hmmm and opened her eyes. Her kids were there standing holding a tray with a bowl of soup. They were smiling, proud of themselves at making her dinner in bed without arguing.

Ginny smiled and looked at her family. She was so lucky to have them. She began to eat to eat the soup and barely kept a grimace off her face at the taste.

Still, it was the thought that counted.
