*I sadly do not own The Darkest Powers nor any of it's characters, alas that privilege is Kelley Armstrong's.*
Hi,
Hope you like this first chapter, I'm sorry if any of the characters or a little OCC or if I've made grammar mistakes. Seriously, criticism is welcome, it means people out there have read it and think that there's potential in it.
So, R&R :)
I sighed, stretching contentedly. My still half-asleep brain basking in the warmth of the duvet, reluctant to face the cold motel room that waited for me outside the protection of the bed. A hand brushed the hair that had fallen across my face, tucking it securely behind my ear, lingering on my cheek.
I turn over to find Derek, elbow propping himself up on the pillow, leaning over me. A smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. "Good morning," I whispered my voice hoarse from sleep. His eyes twinkled as a lazy smile crept across his face.
He leant down his lips barley brushing mine in a teasing kiss. He cocked an eyebrow at me when he saw the scowl that I vainly tried to hold in place. "You called that a kiss?" I whispered. "No," the lazy smile turned sly. "I call this a kiss."
Suddenly, his lips crushed mine; his tongue traced my lips and teased at my own before catching my lower softly and nipping it, careful not to nip too hard for fear of breaking skin.
But after a too brief few seconds longer he pulled back the sly grin replaced but a full watt smile, his eye twinkled mischievously. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him in for round two, but less then an inch from my face he stopped.
"Lauren will be waking up soon, she might not be too happy to find her little Chloe in a compromising position with the big bad wolf after very graciously allowing the sleeping arrangements."
Aunt Lauren's agreement had been far from gracious, her thoughts on me and Derek had been made clear on day one but after four months and some sly brown points that Derek had gain from not touching me more then necessary in public, she seemed, well not happy, more like resigned.
Her and Tori were sleeping in the double bed opposite us, Simon was sprawled out on the cot at the foot of the beds, the throw from our bed was wrapped haphazardly around him how he didn't kill himself with it in the middle of the night was beyond me.
Kit was asleep on the couch one hand clutching the old woollen blanket Aunt Lauren had found on the top self in the press, the other hand dangling on the floor.
Just then, Aunt Lauren's alarm on her phone went off the shrilling ringing filling the room. My eyes narrowed, "Your evil, you know that right?"
He chuckled flipping off me and swinging his legs out from under the duvet, a cold unwelcome draft brushed my legs as the sheets settled around them once more. He grabbed his ruff sack from behind the door and slipped into the bathroom, the shower rumbled to life.
Tori and Simon groaned in unison as the alarm intruded their sleep, Aunt Lauren grabbed the phone with one hand and shut off the alarm before letting it fall back onto the nightstand that divided our beds.
The shower stopped, and with that Simon and Tori shot out of bed with a speed that shouldn't be humanly possible at this time in the morning. Tori raised her fist to banged on the bathroom door for a third time.
While shouting at Simon, the door swung in with a suddenness that caused a startled Tori to stumble back a few steps, giving Simon the split second he needed to slip past Derek and shut the door, the lock sliding home with a satisfying click.
Tori seethed sparks literally flying from her. "Enjoy it while it lasts," she screamed at the door. "cause as soon as you get out of there your a dead man."
I pulled the duvet up over my head. Ahh, mornings.
