10 Drabbles, 10 Topics challenge #2 - Sirius Black
Seven Deadly Sins - Sin: Wrath; Character: Sirius Black
Revenge
Sirius had been the first person to arrive at the Potter home in Godric's Hollow on the night of the Dark Lord's defeat, or the night of James' and Lily's death as he tended to think of it as. Hagrid had arrived a little after he had been able to remove Harry from the destroyed nursery. Sirius had been shocked that Harry had been able to survive but glad that someone had nonetheless.
Hagrid had been sent by Dumbledore to fetch Harry and bring him to a safe location that Dumbledore had found for Harry to be raised. Sirius had reluctantly handed Harry over to Hagrid and offered Hagrid his motorbike to get to the safe house location. Hagrid had been thankful and had left quickly, taking to the skies despite his weight, carrying the precious little bundle with him. Some logical mind told Sirius that he was the one that should be taking care of Harry as Sirius had been named godfather to care for Harry if Lily and James died. Sirius knew that he would never be responsible enough to raise a child and trusted Dumbledore to know more about these things than he did.
He turned to look at the carnage again and rage filled him. They had been betrayed by Wormtail, the one they had trusted with Lily and James' lives along with the life of Harry, whom everyone had doted on. The desire for revenge clouded Sirius' mind and he was moving before he even noticed it. Sirius could feel his blood and magic pumping through his veins as his search for the rat narrowed down to only a few places within London, all of them being muggle. His magic directed him towards the traitor as if it wanted to do some damage. It was his dark Black magic that was thrumming in his veins but Sirius could not care enough to suppress what he had gained from his family and had shown so much hatred towards for so long..
None of that mattered when he had caught sight of the sniveling traitor in one of the muggle streets of London. He paid no attention to the muggles who were staring in confusion at him and the traitor as they both stood there, silent, with wands drawn..
Sirius could only see the glassy eyed look on both James and Lily's faces as they lay unmoving, one near the door and one just in front of the crib he had found Harry in. Sirius thought of Harry being raised without knowing either one of his parents, never knowing them and barely even remembering them. Sirius would avenge them, this pathetic cowards would be repaid the dues he was owed by Lily, James and Harry, viciously.
He did not pay attention to whatever the rat was shouting out at him. It would all be lies and excuses any way. Just as he was about to curse the rat, everything around them exploded.
Sirius stopped for a moment to take everything in and then laughed.
