When the light seeped back into my eyes, my brain began to start whirring with thoughts. Like a gale of rain, the memories of all that happened flooded into my minds eye. I flicked my tired eyes open briefly to try to figure out where I was. It was bright, and all I could make out was large blurs of white.

I shifted my hands and felt thin sheets covering my body, as well as thick bandages wrapped around every limb. Sighing, I opened my eyes once more, this time the room was clearer. Curtains were open next to my bed and sunlight was streaming through the window. My nerves began to react slowly, I had expected this, after going through three days of torture. I smelt flowers, sunflowers, if I wasn't mistaken. Growing up around Ino and the Yamanaka flower shop had helped me identify each glorious smell.

As soon as I shifted my head to try to look around me, a sharp pain in my neck stopped me. A light gasp escaped my lips as the pain spread throughout my entire body.

"I wouldn't try moving just yet. You could hurt yourself more" A semi-quiet voice said from somewhere to my left, "Take another minute to get adjusted, do you know where you are?" The voice asked me. I didn't respond right away, I didn't want to. Thinking back to where I was the last three days made me quiver with a slight fear. All the memories of the darkness, the cold and the panic crept back into my mind.

"I.." was all I could say, my mouth was dry and my voice wasn't working. Lack of food and water could do that to a person.

"Try again, this time slower" The voice urged, gently but the need for communication was there. My captors never let me speak; I was beaten if I did. I had learned to keep my mouth shut, even through the burning sensation that ran down my back each time a blow was delivered.

"I d..don't kn..know." This time my sentence came, though my throat was still on fire.

"Well don't worry about that. What about your name? Can you tell me that?" The sudden chill in the voice made me answer faster this time, or at least, I tried to answer. My words wouldn't come. Now I was getting really nervous. Even though this mystery person told me not to move, I shook my head. It hurt a lot, but it got the message across.

"That's okay, I'm going to get you some water, maybe then you'll feel like talking" I heard clicks of heels as the person left the white room. Sighing softly, I left my eyes closed and tried to think. Of course I knew my name, it was my location I didn't know. My captors had once used a genjutsu on me that I couldn't make heads or tails out of. It seemed so real, every detail was so exact. Imagine my surprise when I woke up in that tiny dark room with one of my captors giving me a swift kick in the stomach before he left laughing. I sure as heck wasn't going to fall for this trick again. It would be a better plan to just keep my mouth shut and play dumb.

Sleep was calling to me, but for some reason I really didn't want to fall into the sweet oblivion. Something about its soft voice made me want to fight for all I was worth, or what was left of me. When it seemed like I was falling sleep, I started to count in my head as high as I could go. Hearing the numbers roll around in my head always seemed to keep me focused.

I had reached thirty nine, when the familiar clicks of heels returned, but this time, they were accompanied by a more firmer and harder sound of boots. My heart began to beat fast in my chest as the footsteps came closer, I was now thoroughly afraid of everything, even my own shadow. That's irony to me.
