Absence of You
"There was some serious damage. Various bruises and scrapes, two broken ribs and a sprained ankle. His eye is swelling. But the most serious problem is the head injury he sustained. We fixed all we can, but we can't know how he's doing until he wakes up."
He heard that and flinched. His brother was in bad shape. The poltergeist was a nasty one. Banged him up pretty bad.
"Doc, is my brother in... any pain?"
The doctor sighed and clutched his clipboard a little tighter. "He's on local anesthesia right now for the ribs and ankle. But we can't know where else it hurts until... Son, don't give up hope."
"Thanks doc," he whispered, walking over to his brother. Grabbing his hand, Dean murmured only so he could hear, "Get better, Sammy... Please, don't leave me here. Don't leave me behind."
