A/N: This is another response to pyrolyn-776's Lyric Challenge. Once I got that list in front of me, it had so many good lyrics on it, I couldn't resist using a bunch of them. The title doesn't have much to do with the lyric, but it has to do with the story sort of. :) Anyway, enjoy! R&R! Thanks! –Mac

#111: "I loved you first."
No Words To Describe
"You can't be with him," Shane called out, making Mitchie pause with one foot out of his door.
She whipped around to face him again, "And why not?"
"Why…not?" Shane swallowed hard, only managing to repeat her question and look like an idiot.
"Yes, I just said that. Why not?" Mitchie stared him down, only irritated by his lack of intelligent response.
"Because…" Shane began, "Because, I won't let him have you."
"Why not?" Mitchie cried out incredulously.
"Will you stop asking me that?" Shane snapped, frustrated by his inability to answer that question without looking like a complete fool.
"Then start answering," Mitchie responded. "Why not?"
Shane sighed, "Because…"
"I need a better answer than 'because,'" Mitchie replied. "And if I'm not going to get one, then I'm going to leave."
"No, Mitchie, wait!" Shane stopped her once again.
"You've got one minute," Mitchie stood with her arms crossed.
"It's just hard to get it out," Shane took a deep breath, "I should have said it before but…"
"Thirty seconds," Mitchie stated.
"Mitchie, the thing is that I…well…I…God I don't know how to say this…"
"Ten seconds."
"It's just that I…ahem…I…"
"Five," Mitchie warned. "Four, three, two…"
"I loved you first!" Shane finally blurted out, nearly shouting it at her.
The scowl dropped off her face and her response came out in a whisper, "What?"
"I'm in love with you Mitchie. I have been for a really long time…before you ever met him. So, he can't have you. I loved you first."
"I…I…" Mitchie stuttered, "I don't know what I am supposed to say."
"Do you love me Mitchie?" Shane questioned, taking a step closer to her.
"Of course, I do," Mitchie answered immediately. "You're my best fried and…"
"No, Mitchie. Are you in love with me?" Shane rephrased the question.
Mitchie stole a moment to look Shane in the eyes. Then she took a deep breath and answered, "Yes."
Shane smiled, "Then there's nothing else to say."
"Well, then what is there to…" Mitchie trailed off as Shane began to close the distance between them, "Oh."
Shane took her into his arms and kissed her softly. There were no words to describe how they felt in that moment.
