One reason for the Statue of Secrecy

Tarquin Malfoy had learned a lot through being at Hogwarts for a year it seemed such a shame that underage magic was banned!

And if he jinxed that unpleasant muggle the authorities WOULD find out; and it was partly because of that particular muggle and his prejudices that there were discussions afoot to hide the wizarding world from muggles entirely. Puritans were such spoil-sports, and this one was even more subhuman than most muggles with his vicious ways and ruthless cruelty.

It would have been such sport to have that crop of warts on Oliver Cromwell's face singing royalist songs.
