There had been an annoying voice coming from outside his office calling for him, and the great Genjo Sanzo was getting pissed off.

"SANZO!" Goku shouted as he came barging in with no manners at all, being rowdy and loud like he normally was. The monkey smiled at the sight of his sun. "Sanzo!"

"Stupid monkey!" Sanzo yelled, smacking his ward with his paper fan right across the head. Goku yelped and fell backwards onto the ground, holding his head with a pout. "Stop being so annoying, you moron!"

"That hurts, Sanzo!"

Sanzo tch'd, walking back to his seat to finish up the documents at his desk. "What do you want, monkey?"

Goku lit up, placing his hands on Sanzo's desk with a cute, innocent smile. His golden eyes were wide with glee, and his tone with excitement. "Sanzo, I love you!"

Sanzo's jaw unhinged in shock. "What?" Wasn't the monkey hungry instead?

"I said, Sanzo, I love you!" Goku still smiled innocently and cutely, not realizing the extent of his words. "Hakkai said if you love someone, you want to protect them and make them smile. When he asked me if I loved anyone, I had to think about it, but then I figured out I love him and Gojyo. But the one I love the most is Sanzo!"

"And why are you telling me?" Sanzo turned his face away from Goku.

"Because Gojyo said if you love someone, they should know so that they know that you care for them. He was going to come with me to tell you, but Hakkai dragged him to go home. I don't get why the perverted kappa was laughing though. Ah, Sanzo, I have a question."

"What is it, monkey?"

"Do you love me?"

In all honesty, the priest didn't expect that kind of question or was ready for it. He was speechless for several moments, which Goku had a hard time keeping his patience with. "Sanzo?" he said, tilting his head curiously. "Answer my question, Sanzo. Sanzo!"

Irritated by the constant calling, Sanzo smacked the monkey with his fan again. "Be quiet, stupid monkey!" he shouted. "You're so annoying!"

"But, Sanzo! Answer my question! Do you love me?" The monkey looked at the priest with a pouting look, one that was begging for an answer with cheeks soft and round and eyes big and puppy - like. He was also sticking out his bottom lip.

For the nth time in his life, the priest tch'd but softly, going back to the documents. He was given peace when Goku didn't continue badgering him, but the monkey stayed in his office in rare silence, sitting on a chair on the other side of the desk with that look. The boy continued to stare at Sanzo, saying nothing, but the glint in his eyes expressed his hope and awe of the priest before him.

Damn this kid for always looking at him like that.

Soon the sun reached its highest point in the sky, and it was time to take a break. Goku had fallen asleep for a nap, his head pillowed by his arms on the desk. In his private moment, Sanzo smiled, a curl of one side of his lips, as he stood up from his seat, and he stretched himself out.

"Oi, Goku, wake up," he said softer than usual, hand placed gently on top of the boy's head. "It's lunchtime."

Gaku yawned as he woke up, rubbing his eyes before he smiled in excitement for food. "Lunchtime!" he shouted, jumping off his chair and dragging the priest out by the arm. "Let's go, Sanzo! I want to get meat buns!"

"Hmph, you black hole."
