"Look at that Lily: we don't look like ourselves any more – we're too serious"

"I don't think you've looked like yourself since we left school"

"What?"

"You used to be- I used to see you as an arrogant-

"-Egoistical-"

-Cheerful person who's always had an easy life"

"Yeah, I wish"

"I know that now"

"Anyway, you're far too sensible now - too much like an adult"

"..."

"..."

"You know why I was like that, Lily?"

"Like what?"

"An arrogant cheerful person spent far too much time on pranks and not enough on life"

"Well...it's who you are isn't it – you're not a, a-

"Moony?"

-Yes, alright. You're not a Moony; you're a Padfoot"

"That's part of it but also. Well I did study didn't I?"

"Yeah"

"But I studied more at ho- at Grimmauld than I did at school and at school I was a child"

"Uh-huh...I don't get it"

"At Hogwarts were you a child?"

"Well no, I suppose – I was too busy trying to prove that I was as good as everyone else. And anyway when I was a child I dreamt of magic and things so Hogwarts was like my childhood dreams come true"

"And before you got your letter you were a child?"

"Mmmm"

"Well for me it was the other way round: when I was a kid I had to act like an adult. I wasn't very good at it but it was what I had to be. So when I got to Hogwarts, met James, became a Gryffie. It was a new world, and I tested the boundaries and discovered that they were a lot larger than Grimmaulds. So I decided to have a childhood while I could"

"Oh"

"D'you get it now"

"Yeah"

"..."

"Hey, Sirius?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think you can still be a child?"

"I suppose we can steal some moments. But it's not really the right time is it – in the middle of a war?"

"But people could have a childhood now, right?"

"Are you pregnant Lily?"

===00===

She blushes and fiddles with a loose thread of her sweater.

He laughs and spins her round, then kisses the top of her head.

She bats him away and mumbles something; looking worried.

He smirks and tells her to go home.

She hugs him, wild and impulsive, and he stumbles back a little, before encircling her waist and pulling her closer.

They break apart and look at each other; communicating with their eyes until she turns away and brushes at her eyes.

He walks round to face her then bends a little to look her in the eyes. His face is full of exasperation and hers panic.

===00===

"Anyone can have a childhood, Lily, as long as people make it happen. You'll just have to be extra careful is all"

"..."

"And anyway he'll have a playmate, Alice is pregnant too. They announced it last week"

"Well I suppose if someone else is foolish enough – how do you know it'll be a boy?"

"Godfather's intuition."

"Who says you'll be Godfather?"

"Prongs did, he promised me back in sixth year."

"Ugh, that man is insufferable, he never lets me choose anything"

"Will you name him after me?"

"NO!"

"Aww, c'mon"

"No! Do you really want someone else to be stuck with that ridiculous pun?"

"What about Patrick then?"

"Patrick?"

"Paddy."

"Lets go home Paddy"

"So you like it then?"

"No"

"Aww"

"Patrick sounds too...Irish, I want something plain and English"

"Like James?"

"Maybe as a middle name. The world doesn't need two James Potter's"

Bad ending I know but they had nothing left to say.

This is my first time writing a whole conversation/all dialogue fic so please review to tell me how I've done.
