Anyway, this isn't as angsty as it looks like. Enjoy!
"Look at me, honey," he said softly, caressing her hair.
"No," came the muffled reply.
"Look at me," he repeated, a bit louder now.
"No."
"Why not?" If she wanted him to help her, she'd need to look at him.
"Because I'm scared," she said, her voice soft and child-like. His heart broke, he wanted to help her, fight away her fears.
Softly, he turned her small frame around, making her look at him. Her big brown eyes were filled with tears.
"They'll come get me…"
"Who will?"
"The monsters, Daddy, they only come when it's dark and I'm alone!"
Danny smiled reassuringly at his 5 years old daughter and scooped her up in his arms, effectively stopping her sobs. She clung to him, burying her face in his shoulder.
"Will you protect me?" she softly asked.
"Of course I will. Daddy's a strong policeman, remember? No one will hurt you, Sabrina, I'll always protect you."
Sabrina's face appeared again. "Promise?"
"Promise."
Danny walked to the living room, where his wife was sitting. Hearing footsteps behind her, Lindsay turned around.
"Hey honey, why are you awake?" she asked her daughter. Danny sat down next to her, handing Sabrina over to Lindsay.
"The monsters, Mommy, they're going to eat me!" Sabrina cried out.
Lindsay looked at Danny, who tried to hide his smile. "What can we do about this, Mommy?" he asked her.
"Hmm," Lindsay said, thinking about a way to comfort their daughter. Looking at Sabrina, she smiled and tucked a stray of hair behind her ear. "What do you think, would the monsters come when you sleep with me and Daddy?"
Sabrina shook her head. "No, they only come when I'm alone. Could I sleep in your bed, Mommy, please, please?"
"Of course, sweetie."
Danny and Lindsay walked towards their bedroom, Lindsay carrying Sabrina and Danny carrying her teddy.
"Goodnight Mommy, goodnight Daddy," Sabrina said sleepily once they were all in bed.
"Goodnight Sabrina," both the parents replied. No crimes were committed that night, and the monsters stayed away from Sabrina. All three of them slept peacefully that night, dreaming only good dreams.
A/N: Hope you liked it! Please review:)
