~Secret~
"Impossible, utterly impossible,"
"What was that, Gwen?"
"Nothing, my lady,"
Gwen turned around to continue folding Morgana's clothes trying to hide her embarrassment as she felt the blood rush to her cheeks. She could not believe she had almost given herself away. Us away, she corrected herself mentally. Her relationship with Arthur had to be a secret. If a single soul ever found out, she shuddered.
"Gwen would you mind taking this to Gaius for me," Morgana asked, "It's a letter of thanks."
"Of course," Gwen answered automatically, reaching for the scroll and finishing up with the clothes.
"I'll do it right away," Gwen excused herself.
She could have literally run from the room. Thank God I'm out of there, she thought and sighed dramatically. She twisted in and out of corridors, reaching her destination and trying to control her expression as she knocked on Gaius' door.
"Come in,"
Gwen walked in, curtsied, and held out the note.
"For you, from the Lady Morgana,"
"Thank you, Gwen; it is nice of you to stop by,"
"Just doing my duties, Gaius," she replied, "I really must be going," All those clothes are still on Morgana's bed waiting for me, she sighed.
"Good day, then, Gwen,"
She reached for the door, closing it gently behind her and then slumped herself against a wall. She couldn't hold it in anymore, she needed to see Arthur, to talk things through-
"Guinevere?" A familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
Speak of the devil,
"Good day, Sire," she began, suddenly feeling the blush rush to her cheeks, "Not to be rude, but I really must be-"
Words escaped her as his lips crushed hers and she felt her heart rate quicken. Arthur seemed to forget that they were in the middle of a frequently used corridor that anyone could appear in and that they were just outside Gaius' door. Gwen pushed him away.
"Sire-"
"Arthur," he scolded.
"Arthur, I really don't think this is a good idea, I mean, anyone could walk past-"
"I've missed you Guinevere," he said, his blue eyes piercing hers.
"As have I," she smiled, forgetting what she was saying, "But now isn't really the best time for a reunion," she reminded him.
"I suppose not," he sighed.
They looked at each other for a long time. Then Gwen finally came down to earth and realised that in reality, he was the crowned Prince of Camelot and she was a handmaiden who had work to do.
"I really must go now," she said sadly.
"Does that disappoint you?" he teased.
"Of course not!" she said, jokingly.
"I'll see you later then," He whispered, placing one last kiss on her lips.
She then walked reluctantly away from him, feeling his eyes bore into the back of her head. Will I ever not be surprised by him? She asked herself as she climbed the stairs into Morgana's chambers.
"Whatever took you so long?" Morgana asked curiously.
"Sorry my Lady, just talking with Gaius," She answered hiding her smile and returning to folding clothes. It must remain a secret, for now.
Sorry if it's crap. I wrote it way back last year. When I was a newbie ficcer. Never put it up so I thought, why not? Hope it was somewhat enjoyable. Random drabble is kinda my thing. :D
Review if you find the need to. :P
