she pulled off her sunglass to get a better look at the mass desert. a few houses here...there..off into the distance. but in all honesty, she knew what it meant to be in the middle of no where. she grabbed her luggage and made her way into the small adobe house by the trading post. her cousin Mina was inside waiting for her.
"Oh my God Serena! Your finally here. I cannot tell you how glad I am to see you again."
"hmm. yeah. whats up?"
"seriously...nothing much. I'm just really glad that your finally here."
"oh, that's cool. sorry, but I'm just a bit tired from the long drive. If I wasnt so tired, I'd probably be a little more enusiastic."
"no problem, I'll show you to our room and let you get some rest, ok?"
as they made thier way over to the room they were going to be sharring for the next two months, Serena noticed that not much had changed at her grandmothers house. the wooden floors creaked here and there. they dusty white walls were faded and chiped. they were beyond a good paint job. her bed room door was nothing more than a old blanket pinned from the ceiling. every summer she came to her grandma's house. every summer she sharred her room with Mina. They helped out thier grandma. She could use all the help she could get.
serena's mother Irene and mina's mother were sisters that grew up in this house. for years they were able to enjoy a simple life, in the same traditional manner of thier ansestors, but with the recent expantion of "western civilization" and much advancements in technology the girls were forced to leave thier home and begin careers in a distant city. after establishing a career for herself as a officer of the law, Irene started a family of her own.
Unable to leave her career to help her mother Serentiy, Irene sent her only daughter Serena to assit her grandmother at home during the summers. Mina was also sent out by her own mother as well. Since turing 8, the girls returned every year. This would be Serena's 7th year returing.
Serena set her luggage on the floor when she got to her bedroom, and threw herself to the bed. as she drifted off into sleep, she wondered when she would see her ol friends that lived in the area. Amy, Lita, Raye...maybe even Darien...
