Jade had been known for her optimism, freedom, cheerfulness, and taste for adventure. She used her positive qualities to deal with the loss of her Grandfather, the game, and the now occuring loss of Dave Strider.

She was in shock. The battle with Lord English was going well, but then thier numbers began to dwindle.

The first to be killed was Karkat Vantas, when he took a direct stream of bullets through his torso for John. Even with his last words, he still denied any sort of red feelings. John was saved, and given a new reason to fight.

The next to die was Dirk Strider, a hero for the second time. He saved his crush Jake English, and passed away into the dream bubbles with a confession and a kiss. Jake dipped into his emergency ammo and explosives, screaming and fighting on while sobbing.

And then...Dave Strider. Her precious Dave Strider. The demon of Space and Time had been defeated, thanks to him. Jade was about to be next when Dave manipulated time and switched places, getting in LE's face slashing like mad...But also taking bullets.

He was still alive, barely breathing and weezing in Jades lap. And all she could do was cry. She cried onto his face, running her fingers through his hair.

His breathing was slowing down, and she screamed at him, sobbing.

"Dont go! Please! No! I need you, please dont go!"

"I love you, you know..." He replied, and then stopped breathing. His heart slowed. His mind calmed. His body, cooling.

This only made her cry louder. He was gone. He was gone and it was all her fault, because she had gotten into that position. She clutched the body, and cried. Rose soon joined her morning, holding the lost striders hand tightly. Her lip quivering and tears flowing down her face.

John brought Karkat's body near Daves and wept. He wept for his friends he had lost. He wasn't good enough, he told himself. He just wasn't a good enough friend, and wasn't a good enough leader.

Jake buired his face into the fallen Dirks shirt, screaming and crying into it like a pillow. Roxy was also sobbing, while downing vodka straight from the bottle. Her screams mixed with the gurgling of vodka falling out of her mouth while she sobbed, and the occasional hiccup. Jane did her best to comfort them, but it was hard because she was sobbing too.

Kanaya and Terezi wept silently, you could see their tears but hear no noise. Death was a common thing back home, and they had lost one of thier dearest friends. It was going to be okay, but they would miss the nubby horned troll. They were strong.

But Terezi's tears were more frequent, because not only was she crying for Karkat, but she was also crying for Dave. She had even seen this coming a few moments before this happened, and yet the sadness and shock held no less impact.

And all that echoed through space was the tears of those who had lived. The tears for the fallen, for the brave. And the living, and the dead, heard every word and wept with them.
