If I did Sakura would have dropped dead in the first season, Sasuke would not have been a stupid little emo brat that ran off with a pedophile, and finally Naruto would have gotten all the love and cuddles he deserved growing up. On to the story/one-shot thing!
Itachi walked into the Uchiha compound after a long, hard day of training. As he got closer to the main house he started to feel a sense of foreboding, it was then that he heard the screams. As the young ANBU captain rushed into his home he saw his mother holding a hand to her cheek. There were the remains of broken plates all around Uchiha Mikoto. Itachi rushed to his mother's side to see if she needed his help. He had tried for years to convince her to leave, but she refused always saying that he and Sasuke needed their father to grow-up into strong men. "Mother it's only gotten worse if we don't leave he will wind up killing us all" Itachi pleaded. "No it was my fault." Mikoto denied"I made the wrong dish for and important business deal dinner."
It was then that a child's scream came from further in the house. "Sasuke!" yelled Itachi in fear. He ran to his little brother's room only to find his father in a drunken rage yelling at the young 6 year old child. "I should have just drowned you at birth you pathetic waste of space!" Uchiha Fugaku yelled bringing the whip he had in his hand down on the hurt and frightened child. "Stop this" yelled Itachi. "Father what are you doing?" "It's simple" replied Fugaku "I'm getting rid of this mistake that shold have never been born." he growled glaring in the direction of the cowering child.
Itachi somehow managed to get his father out of the house and tended to Sasuke's injuries because Mikoto claimed that he deserved the beating before walking off to restart dinner. "I swear to you Sasuke someday he will never hurt you again. Even if I have to wipe out the entire clan I'll protect you otouto."
