1Disclaimer: Twilight's not mine. Oh well.

Authors Note: I was listening to the song and it all of a sudden hit me that these lyrics are perfect for Edward and Bella. I'm sure somebody else has already realized this, but I haven't checked so I'm writing this out anyway.

Edward sat in Bella's room, waiting for her to wake up. He had started looking through all of her things, not out of boredom but just to learn more about her. He had already found all of her childhood pictures. Bella had been especially cute in a bathing suit and straw hat as a toddler.

He picked up her cd player and cds. He got a cd out at random, put it in the player, and sat down in the rocking chair to listen. It was a mix cd. A few loud rock songs, then some on strings and piano, then one that was bagpipes and drums playing Amazing Grace. He checked the time as the eighth song started out with an acoustic guitar. It's almost time for Bella to get up.

The dawn is breaking

A light shining through

You're barely waking

And I'm tangled up in you

Edward only barely noted that the music reflected his exact situation right now. He stared at Bella, admiring the red highlights the sun brought out in her hair as it filtered through the yellowed curtains. Her eyelids fluttered. He wanted to hold her and never let her go.

I'm open, you're closed

Where I follow, you'll go

I worry that I won't see your face

Light up again

He chuckled. "Yeah," he thought. "She's definitely closed.... and she would follow me anywhere." Then he thought of the last part. Oh, yes, he worried about that. If there ever was a day where Bella had not smiled at least once, it would break his heart. Edward lived for Bella's happiness.

Even the best fall down sometimes (he almost laughed openly at that line)

Even the wrong words seem to rhyme

Out of the doubt that fills my mind

I somehow find

You and I collide

Edward lay his head back against the chair, just listening to the song. It seemed to describe his relationship with Bella to a T.

I'm quiet, you know

You make a first impression

I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Definitely. That's what scared him the most. He knew, although he couldn't hear her thoughts, that she feels the same way as he does. And she's always on his mind.......

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Don't stop here
I lost my place
I'm close behind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide

Edward had kept his head back, only thinking about the music, and his beautiful Bella's face. When he opened his eyes again, he saw that Bella had fully woken. She looked at him, puzzled. He simply turned off the cd player, placed it on her bedside table, and sat on the edge of the bed.

Bella leaned up. "What were you listening to?" she ask, her voice hoarse with sleep.

"I believe it's entitled Collide."

"Howie Day?"

He nods, then leans down and presses his lips against hers. She wraps her arms around him in an attempt to keep him there. Edward pulls away, only long enough to say, "You're absolutely the most beautiful person, Bella. I love you so much."

And then, for once, its him that puts the passion into the kiss.
