One of those hard days with an inexplicable amount of tension. One of those days when he's not around to spoil her, to make her laugh and forget for just a second how hard her work is. Because he's working on his writer world today. A whole-day meeting with the publishers and she feels robbed. That's why she goes home, has some wine and put her favorite album to play. Nothing better than a bathtub and some jazz playing on the background to renew her soul and relax the muscles.
And she's so into her own thoughts that she never heard him entering her home with another bottle of wine in hands. When she gets out of the tub and enters on her robe, he's sitting on the couch, half spread on the tip of it, glass in hand, waiting for her.
She sees him while Coltrane makes his way to her heart that is already open for the other amazing man in her life. She couldn't help but smile openly and walk in his direction, open arms, ready to give and take some good energy.
- I'm sorry for being all day out, those meetings are so long and stressful, I wish I cou- he tries to begin but fails 'cause the lady in a robe is already kissing him fiercely.
Then she stops and look into his eyes and close hers in sequence. He can feel her fulfilling her lungs with air and expiring it all in once. Kate gives him a mouth closed smile of pure joy, as she's just breathing him in.
- Kate, how's your day? - he asks hugging her a little bit stronger now.
- shh-shut up, Castle. - She just smiles larger, opening her eyes slowly.
- what? - he's not getting her point
- don't you hear it?
- hear what?
- Coltrane is whispering love and magic. Nothing says I love you like Coltrane.
- Love you too.
She simply wrinkles her nose as saying "that's it, you got it". She might not be ready to push the three words sentence out of her mouth yet but Coltrane is doing it for her and it feels so true. She knows he understands it, how important it is for her to share her magic with him, her moment of happiness. Before him, Coltrane used to be her secret, her moment for herself, her scape as his books were too. Before him, she would have done exactly the same ritual, the album, the wine and the bathtub. But she would sit in her couch, open one of his books and read until the whole world disappear and she would forget her awful day and sleep a little bit better.
But now he's there with her. Rick is there to help her end this ritual in a whole new way and she's willing to share her magical music with him, this one that makes her heart beat in a inexplicable way and her soul smiles in joy. Actually, he's part of the ritual now because she's taking him to bed as she used to do with his books.
