True Feelings
In the twelve years Spongebob had known Sandy, he had been hurt physically and emotionally. For as long as they had been friends, Spongebob had had somewhat of a crush on Sandy, and with each big experience they shared, his affection for her only became stronger. He had given her flowers on every occasion (even if it wasn't actually an occasion) since they had met, and she had cherished all the flowers he had given her ever since. He didn't understand why he didn't just come out and tell her his feelings. Maybe it was just the fear of making the friendship awkward if she didn't share his feelings, or the fear that she did share his feelings and they wouldn't just be friends anymore. He didn't want to give up the simple but strong friendship they shared and get into a big complicated relationship. Not yet.
He and Sandy had had their ups and downs throughout the past twelve-or-so years, but all the challenges had bonded the two together. There came times when he needed her and she needed him in a way that none of their other friends could fulfill. For his entire life, Sandy had been the only actual girl in his life, and it hurt to think that she would probably only remain a friend. A good friend nevertheless, but still only a friend. As of now, he wanted the friendship to remain where it was, but in the future, he thought he might want to be more. He didn't want to give up the simple friendship they shared, but maybe in the future, both of them would want that to change.
He hadn't ever told anybody about his true feelings for Sandy. He didn't feel like anyone needed to know. He hadn't even told Gary. Some of his friends seemed to have lined up the clues anyways though. Gary had told him that he was a coward because he wouldn't tell her he had a crush on her, so Gary had figured it out anyways. Patrick had begun teasing him every time he went to the treedome by singing, "Sandy and Spongebob, sittin' in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G." Still, to everyone who asked him if he had a crush on Sandy, he still denounced it. Were his feelings that obvious?
