Bittersweet AfflictionShe wants to scream. She wants to yell.
"Please look at me"
"I'm still here."
"Don't leave me."
Regardless of her screaming, her yelling and her pleading he always turns his back on her. Forever and Always because that is what he is best at, leaving. He can't stand the thought of human attachments, feelings but most of all love. Anything that makes him human, he despises. But as she looks at him right now covered in blood she realizes he is a hypocrite.
He is a goddamn hypocrite. He might say something but always does something else. He says he doesn't care about her but the reason he is dying right now is because he took the attack that was supposed to kill her.
She really wants to scream right now.
But all she can do is cry and try to save him even though they both know that it's pointless. The wound's too deep, too close and his blood is pouring out like wine, covering her, staining her, marking her. He is staring at her with unfocused eyes and with great effort he wipes her tears away clumsily. It's the same hand that has killed a thousand men before but now it can barely move. The irony alone makes her want to laugh bitterly, insanely.
He whispers her name brokenly and she finds that her name has never sounded more beautiful. He urges her to come closer and she complies. He gingerly brushes his lip against hers and she can taste the blood from his lips in her mouth, it's bittersweet just like him. That's all it is, a brief touch almost like a fleeting glance but that doesn't matter because this is the moment she has been waiting for her whole life. It's the first and last time she will ever feel his touch again because he is dying and there is nothing she can do about it. What's the point of being such a great medical-nin if she can't even save her most loved most cherished person.
"Don't cry." He whispers before his onyx eyes close and he stops breathing. He looks like a fallen devil, a broken angel. He looks beautiful. He almost looks human.
She wants to scream and she does. She screams his name over and over again. She screams for him to come back. She screams so much that she feels like she going to lose her mind; maybe she has already lost it.
Damn it. She never wanted him to be her knight in shining armor. She never wanted him to save her or die on her for that matter. All she ever wanted was him, just him and nothing else. She wanted him, no, needed him like one needed air to breathe. Fate was much too cruel. When he was finally in her grasp willingly, he was snatched away violently from her. It was tragic. It was bittersweet. It was their screwed up version of a love story.
After all, he always was best at leaving her.
The End
