Day Two of October, so here's another prompt done :)
Hiccup let out a sad sigh. He and Astrid had gotten into an argument over… well, that wasn't important. But he did know that he screwed up.
'I wish you and I never even met!'
Hiccup just wanted to curl up in a ball. He knew Astrid didn't mean it, but it still hurt. Especially to the fifteen going on sixteen-year-old. He knew that times weren't always perfect, especially since dragons had come into Berk. There were always those few who tried to kill a dragon on sight, but Hiccup knew that that would go away with time.
Toothless bumped his large, wet nose to Hiccup's temple and let out a soft rumble.
"I'm okay, bud," Hiccup said, his voice cracking at the end.
Toothless gave him a look and Hiccup let out a wet chuckle.
"I'm fine."
Toothless still didn't believe him and nuzzled his head under Hiccup's chin. Hiccup let out a broken sob and turned his face into Toothless' neck. Toothless sat still and let his rider cry. He knew that the boy needed to let his emotions run free, even if it was only for a few moments.
It was about five minutes later when Hiccup's sobs had become small sniffles. Hiccup wiped his face with his sleeve and gave Toothless a soft smile.
"Thanks, bud," Hiccup whispered.
Toothless nuzzled his rider's face once more when the door opened to reveal…
"A-Astrid?" Hiccup asked softly.
"Hi, Hiccup," Astrid said softly. She tried to approach him, but Toothless let out a growl and curled his body around the boy.
"Easy, Toothless. It's just me. I just wanted to talk to Hiccup," Astrid reasoned.
Toothless didn't uncurl, but he did let her come closer.
"H-hey, Hiccup. I-I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean what I said. I wasn't thinking right."
"Yeah," Hiccup sighed.
"I know I probably hurt you more than I know, but I do love you. I love you with all my heart and nothing can change that."
"I know."
Astrid blinked before smiling. Hiccup got up shakily and walked to her. Toothless kept his tail on the small of the boy's back. The two teenagers hugged and Hiccup buried his face into her shoulder while Astrid rested her chin on Hiccup's head.
"I-I'm so, so sorry, Hiccup. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"I-it's alright, Astrid. I forgive you."
Astrid pulled away and wiped the tear tracks off of Hiccup's cheeks. Toothless knew that the teenagers weren't okay, but they were on the right track.
Aaaand that's a wrap! Hopefully, they weren't too OOC... but, with my luck, you never know XP
