"Why do you read?
People may ask,
"Reading's for geeks!"
They shout as they pass,
You ignore all the comments
And just read on
Along with your friends
Harry, Hermione and Ron.
They took you away
To a magical place,
Where nothing could harm you
And you'd always be safe.
You've been on adventures
That no one else has
The things you've seen
In your memory, they'll last.
The world's full of people,
The magical kind,
And most tend to be
The greatest you'll find.
They let you escape
To a distant land,
They smile right beside you
And take hold of your hand.
"Let's go"
They will say,
"Let's go for a while"
As you read more and more pages,
You can't help but smile.
So if people start asking
Why you always read,
Just think of it as
A bookworm's way to feed.
Tell them that books are amazing,
And they ought to try,
Give them a novel
And watch them fly.
You sit down again
With your book in your hand,
Time to be whisked away
To that magical land.
