An Epic Love Story
(A Remus/Tonks One-Shot)
Remus Lupin walks into a jewelry store. He's bursting with excitement. He is about to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Nymphadora Tonks. He walks up to the counter. "How can we help you today, sir?" asks the lady at the counter. "I'm looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend." says Remus. The lady smiles and pulls out a manmade diamond ring. "Perfect." says Remus. He pays for the ring, puts the ring in a box, puts the box in his pocket, leaves the store and Apparates to the Burrow, the home of the Weasley family. He bumps into Ron. "Ron, I need to tell you something. But you must keep it a secret from Tonks." says Remus. Ron nods, slightly confused. Remus takes out the ring and shows it to Ron. Ron smiles. "I'm going to propose to Tonks this Thanksgiving." says Remus. "Fred, George, come out here!" says Ron. Fred and George come out of the house and approach Ron and Remus. "What's up, little brother?" asks Fred. Ron looks over at Remus, a smile upon his face. "What've you done, Professor Lupin?" asks Fred. "It's not something I've done. It's something I'm going to do." says Remus. "What?" ask Fred and George in unison. Remus takes a deep breath. "I'm going to propose to Tonks this Thanksgiving." he says. Fred and George erupt in applause. "She's going to say yes. Don't doubt yourself." says Fred. George claps Remus on the back. "Well done, Professor Lupin! We thought this day would never come." says George. Tonks appears on the gravel path leading up to the house and approaches them. Remus fumbles to put the ring back into the box and into his pants pocket. "Morning, Tonks." says Ron as he hugs her. Tonks hugs Fred and George. "We'll leave you two lovebirds alone." says Ron as he, Fred, and George go back up to the house. Remus and Tonks sit down in a bench in the gardens. "How's your mom?" asks Remus as he puts an arm around Tonks' waist. Tonks' mother, Andromeda, had been distraught since Tonks' father, Ted, had been killed by Death Eaters. "She's getting better. She said that you dating me doesn't make her any better." says Tonks. Remus chuckles and kisses Tonks softly. "I can't change her feelings about us, but her feelings about us don't matter to me. I will love you until I take my least breath." Remus whispers in Tonks' ear. Tonks smiles and pushes a lock of brown hair out of Remus' face. Their relationship started out as a friendship when the Advance Guard, which Remus and Tonks were both a part of, came to take Harry Potter away from 4 Privet Drive. They grew closer after Tonks' cousin and Remus' best friend, Sirius Black, was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange. They started going out soon after the death of Albus Dumbledore. "I'm so lucky to have her." says Remus to himself as he runs his fingers through Tonks' soft blonde hair. Then, something struck him: eventually he and Tonks would have a child. "Our future child might inherit my lycanthropy." says Remus to himself. He looks at the beautiful face sitting next to him. "I couldn't hurt her like that." says Remus to himself. Tonks sees the worry in Remus' eyes. "What's wrong?" she asks. "Nothing." says Remus. Tonks frowns. "Don't lie to me." says Tonks. Tonks could always tell when Remus was lying to her or anyone else. Remus took a few seconds to think of a good lie. "The full moon's coming up." says Remus. Tonks nods, but doesn't trust what Remus said. She lays her head on his shoulder. "I don't know why my mother doesn't like you." says Tonks as she brings her head up. Remus chuckles. He knew he meant the world to Tonks. One of the many reasons he loves her was because she didn't care if he was a werewolf. In Tonks' opinion, that was all the more reason to love him. "Dinnertime!" Molly calls from the house. Remus and Tonks sigh, get up, and return to the house.
