A white tom looked up. Above him a hawk screeched. "There is a hawk!" He yowled. Every cat screeched. Firestar appeared from his den. "Hurry up and hid!" he screeched to his clan. He saw two kits that where frozen in place, they where Firestar's and Sandstorm's newest litter. He jumped onto top of them just as the hawk dove. The warrior snarled and made sure the kits where hidden under his long fur. Claws raked his back. He hissed in pain and the kits whined below him. Firestar yowled something but it was lost to the tom's ears as the hawk's wings made him hear nothing. He closed his eyes. He twisted just as the hawk lifted. He grabbed it by the chest and tackled it. He grabbed a wing and broke it. The hawk screeched and writher below him. He then killed it with a swift bit to the throat. He backed away as Sandstorm ran out of the nursery. She purred seeing her kits alive and well. Brambleclaw and Firestar raced over. "A loner saved the kits!" Lionblaze whispered to Jayfeather.

"Thank you, White. For saving my kits," Sandstorm purred.

White nodded. Thunderclan had found the tom bleeding and on the brink of death. A few moons had passed when the clans had to fight the dark forest. Firestar had a slight limp after spraining his paw in the battle. Jayfeather lifted his head and stared around blindly. White shuffled his paws. The kits mewled and whined as Sandstorm covered them in licks. Firestar smiled and looked at his deputy Brambleclaw. "Send out a border patrol," he meowed.

Brambleclaw nodded. Scorchkit and Yarrowkit looked up at their father. Leafpool sighed and looked at her father, then to her younger sister and brother. Squirrelflight stood next to the tabby and white she-cat. Scorchkit smiled and looked up at White. "Thank you," she meowed.

Yarrowkit nodded and purred. Firestar jumped onto high rock. "Let cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather below high rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled.

Every warrior gathered below the large rock. Eyes turned to stare at the ginger tom. "Today, White showed the true heart of a warrior. He risked his life for two kits. White I think it is time to let you join Thunderclan as a warrior. I Firestar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon Starclan to look down at this cat. He shows a great promise to be a worthy warrior. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code even at the coast of your life?" He meowed.

"I do!"

"Then by the power of Starclan: white from this moment one you will be known as Whitemain!" Firestar meowed.

Whitemain nodded as the clan cheered him by his new name. Scorchkit looked at Yarrowkit and smiled. Scorchkit then raced over to the warrior. "Now you have to sit vigil without speaking!" She meowed as Firestar walked over.

Whitemain rolled his eyes. He smiled and nodded. He sat down as the clan returned to their dens for the night. Scorchkit and Yarrowkit curled up and looked over at Sandstorm.
