Kenshin slowly awakens from his deep sleep and hears a small whining noise from Kenji's room. He silently get's up and walks to his son's room.
He knocks silently on the door and enters "Kenji, what's wrong." the young boy looks up at his father and embraces him. "Tou-San.", "A nightmare?" Kenshin asks, Kenji nods in response.
Kenji holds his father tightly. "Please don't leave me alone." he begs. "Alright Kenji. I won't leave." they sit side-by-side and slowly fall asleep, Kenji's head on his father's shoulder, and Kenshin's on his son's head.
Later that night, Kaoru wakes up and notices her husband is gone. She get's up and searches for him. In Kenji's room, she slides into the door careful to not awaken anyone. She stops and sees the two sleeping next to each other.
Kaoru crouches next to her husband and shakes him. "Kenshin-Anata, get up." he opens his eyes and notices his wife in front of him. "Yes, Tsuma?", "I was just wondering where you went, did he have another nightmare?" he nods "Hai, but he should be fine now." he smiles and gets up careful to not awaken his son.
Kenshin and Kaoru go back to their room after setting Kenji in his futon. The night grows silent as all of Tokyo falls into deep sleep.
