Staggered breaths escaped from her lungs as she looked at the damned item in her hand. Positive. Fuck! How could she have a baby when she could barely take care of herself? Akito shrunk down onto the floor as she started to cry, soft sobs cutting through the otherwise quiet house.

For Shigure, the sobs were quite muffled, but he knew who they belonged to. It wasn't hard to figure out, now that he was living with the stubborn woman he had fallen deeply in love for. It worried him, she hadn't gotten upset like this in a very long time, and had been trying hard to keep it from happening. Making his way through their home, he knocked on the door to the bathroom, pressing his forehead against the wood grain as he spoke.

"Akito? Why are you crying?" he asked, trying to listen for an answer. When none came, he tried again. "Akito, what happened? You're starting to worry me." Gently knocking, he tried his best to comfort her from where he was, and all he wanted was to wrap his arms around her, to tell her things were okay. They were...right?

Looking at the door through tear filled eyes, Akito let out a scream, slamming the test down on the counter before she pressed her own forehead against her side of the door. "P-Promise me...you won't get upset…" It was clear she was already upset, how couldn't he feel the same with her ranting and crying?

"I promise Aki...you know I love you more than anything." came his response, breathing shaky as he tried not to let his worry get the best of him.

The door slowly opened and she pushed her petite body into his more masculine frame, arms clinging to him like the day Tohru had fallen from the cliff. He only could shush her as he stroked her hair, paying most of his attention to her. It was only when he looked up that he saw the reason why she was so upset.

"We're...having a baby?" he inquired, not angry, but more worried for her. He knew she wasn't used to being a woman, let alone having a motherly bone in her body. She could only nod in response.

"I don't think I can be a mother." This came after a long moment of her attempting to calm down. Akito knew how her own mother had treated her, how the woman had been anything but the loving parent she needed. And her father...he was long gone now, he couldn't help her even if her life depended on it. Shigure did not know how to answer the upset woman in his arms, so he did what he knew he could do to show love and support. Lips pressed against each other, his gentle and reassuring, hers rough and needy. This moment of embrace and lips soon passed and Akito curled up into Shigure's arms.

"We'll learn to be parents together, I trust you Akito. Our...our baby (the word felt so...odd on his lips) will be loved. And I love you. That's all that matters."

Pulling her in closer, his fingers trailed through her soft hair, whispering sweet nothings as they took in the full weight of the meaning of what a child would bring. Every now and then, he'd make sure her eyes were dry, wiping the tears away so they wouldn't sting her eyes.

They loved each other and that's what was most important.
