A/N I have become a mythology geek to justify reading Rick Riordan far past the recommended reading age XD I love the idea that Aphrodite stays the same because love is universal, and I think it fits really well with the idea that Aphrodite is originally a Middle Eastern deity. I will hopefully be posting more random drabbles because I like exploring the extended universe ramifications and lets face it, we need more stories about Hazel and Anubis in New Orleans.
She is old. Older than vainglorious Athena, or petty Zeus, or the hills and the trees. Older than Greece.
The foam of the sea? Please. That was just a story to tell her children, give them one less thing to worry about. Truth is, she had a mother (dead), and a father (faded), a brother (into oblivion) and even a snot-nosed, ratbag older sister (who is on her way out and she pleads, she prays that she will last a little longer).
She puts on her makeup and plays with her hair, like a good little Goddess of Love and Beauty. She longs to be Ishtar again, Ishtar the Great, Ishtar the Terrible, Ishtar the Warrior Queen who could mow down whole legions with a single wave of her hand.
But Sumer is gone, and Aphrodite is still here.
