Author's Note: Hello lovely readers! Okay, so I haven't written a Stefan fic before and I wanted to try this out. I decided since I ship Delena but I love Stefan that I would write a story based before 1864 with an OC. This is completely AU except for Elena and Stefan being broken up. Please let me know what I can do to improve.

"The worst day of loving someone is that day you lose them."

Stefan remembered the words as the fell off her lips somberly. She had been his. He had done everything he could to protect her, to give her the best. And now she was with someone else. They were sitting there laughing and smiling as if they didn't have a care in the world while Stefan soaked in his own misery. Heartbreak was not a pretty shade on him. But, unfortunately that's what he was: completely and utterly heartbroken. He was more than that though, he was guilty. He felt guilty for wanting her so badly when he knew that Damon made her happy. And he was angry. How could his own blood take the one person he loved most in the world away from him? How could Elena, the girl he loved who was supposed to love him to, fall for him? Damon was his brother for crying out loud. All of these feelings swarmed in Stefan's stomach just waiting for him to break so they could ooze out of him.

Stefan lost himself in his thoughts as he tried to find some way to deal with his feelings. He knew deep down that he couldn't fight it. As much as he didn't want to admit it Damon made Elena happy and even though it hurt him he had to put his thoughts aside and let them be together. He knew that it would be hell but the only thing he could wish was that she was happy.

Stefan sighed as he turned in his stool at the bar and watched them playing pool. She was gone. The Elena he had loved was gone and she wasn't coming back. Stefan knew that, he did. He just didn't want to face the fact that he had to let her go. In the end Elena was just another name written in his book of loves who left him. Soon she would be as distant as a memory to him. Just as Katherine had been, just as Odessa had been. The named caused an involuntary shiver to echo down Stefan's back. He hadn't thought about her in a long time. He had fallen for her a while ago, before Katherine had come to Mystic Falls. Odessa was something different. She was beautiful, with light brown hair and pale skin the glowed under the moonlight. Stefan could recall how she smelled faintly of strawberries and how her voice gentle as a lullaby. She was his, and he was hers. That all ended very quickly though.
