Nellie sat at one of the tables in her pie shop. It was late at night and she was tired, but was waiting to hear Sweeney Todd's footsteps coming down the stairs. She was not getting her hopes up, for she knew he did not care for her. The only person he cared for was his darling, yellow- haired Lucy. She sat there quietly, waiting and waiting until finally she heard footsteps coming down from his barber shop. She stood up quickly so he would not notice she was waiting for her. The door opened and Nellie saw a mad looking Sweeney Todd in the doorway.
"Mistah T! Ya gave me a fright'!" Nellie gasped putting her hand on her chest.
"Humph! So I did." He grumbled shuffling his feet to the same table Nellie was sitting at.
"Mistah T? Can I ask ya a question?" She asked sitting down across from him.
"Wot?" He asked not looking up to see her.
"Ya know we can't stay here. People are already talkin' abou' us. We'll both end up being executed. If ya won't go then I will. I don't wan' ta have me life end early! I have a whole life ahead o' me still!" Nellie said leaving the table.
"Wait, pet…Lets go together…far away…to the sea." Sweeney said grabbing her wrist.
Nellie couldn't believe her ears! He just offered to escape with her, but even better, to the sea! She turned around in utter disbelief.
"Mistah…Mistah Todd! Ya mean it!" Nellie smiled.
"Yes, pet. Every word." He grinned…almost smiled.
Nellie ran into his arms crying. Sweeney…uncontrollably wrapped his arms around Nellie's body.
"Thank ya, Mistah T! Thank ya so much!" She sobbed.
"Now, my pet…let's get ya t' bed. We leave first thing tomorrow." He said.
Nellie ran upstairs to her room laughing. She quickly undid her corset and slipped off her dress and stalkings and boots and put on her white, fleece nightgown. She unpinned her hair and let it fall to her shoulders. She slid into her sheets and under her red comforter and lay her head on her soft, fluffy pillow. As soon as her eyes closed she heard her door open and sat up to see who it was.
"Mistah T? Is that you?" She asked squinting her eyes to get a better look at the person who was in her doorway.
"I was wondering if I could stay here fer the night." He said quietly.
"O' course, love." Nellie said scooting over to the other side of the bed.
He kicked off his shoes and threw his razor and belt on the floor. He slid in next to Nellie and wrapped his arms around her. That was all she needed to fall asleep.
