Just a short thing I wrote for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and I dont own the series.

The first time someone asked me why I liked Doctor Who so much, I could not give them a simple answer. There is so much to the show that it can't be said simply. When you first watch the show it can seem pretty weird, but after watching it you realize that it is like nothing you've ever seen before. You end up falling in love with these characters. Their joy is your joy. Their happiness is yours, their sadness breaks your heart. Any time the Doctor cries, you want to hold him and tell him everything will be alright. When a companion leaves you cry and sulk because you know that even though the Doctor will find another, it won't be the same. You have your favorite companion and when they go you miss them like you lost your best friend. When the Doctor regenerates you feel like a part of you has died, especially if that was your favorite Doctor. You end up falling in love with these characters and you can't help it. No other show is able to do that. That's how amazing it is. . But it's not just the characters. Doctor Who teaches you that everyone is important, friendship is vital and if you have the courage, you can do anything. You can tell something is great when it can suck you in and leave you on your bed or couch crying because you can't help the emotions raging through you. That's what Doctor Who is and honestly, I wouldn't change it in any way. For all of those reasons and more, I'm not ashamed to say that I love the Doctor.
