I had this idea just last night. I think this is the very first Gary/Lillie fanfic ever written.

I don't own Pokemon.

It's been one month since Gary moved from Pallet Town to be with Lillie on the Alolan Islands. They were introduced by Professor Oak, Gary's grandfather, and the professor's cousin Samson.

They had taken to each other a lot. Until he met Lillie, Gary never really knew what love was. Lillie didn't either until she met Gary.

One night, the two decided to watch a movie from 1968. The movie was called Bullitt and starred Steve McQueen. Gary said as they were watching the movie, "McQueen was one of the greatest actors of his time. Too bad he died at such a young age."

Lillie said, "50 does seem like an early age to kick the bucket. But this movie here was a classic. Detective movies are always great."

After the movie was over, Gary said, "wouldn't it be weird if we went to bed, then we woke up and it was 1968?"

Lillie said, "that would be totally weird. Good night dear." Gary said the same thing, and they went to bed.

When they woke up, the alarm clock radio played the ending of the song "Journey to the Center of the Mind" by The Amboy Dukes.

How happy life could be

If all of mankind

Would take the time to journey to the center of the mind

Would take the time to journey to the center of the mind

Center of the mind (The mind, the mind)

A DJ then said, "that's the latest and greatest from The Amboy Dukes, that's Journey to the Center of the Mind. And now here's Dance to the Music by Sly and the Family Stone."

Gary turned off the alarm clock radio, which happened to be of a design from the 1960s.

He then woke Lillie up, "Lillie wake up, something is different" he said.

Lillie and Gary walked outside their house, and they saw cars of designs that were not from their own era, but more like late 1960s.

They walked over to a pedestrian, and Gary asked, "what year is it?"

The man said, "1968, why?"

Lillie said, "you mean just a few days ago, MLK was assassinated?"

The man said, "it's in the news all over the world. People here are in mourning."

Gary said, "you know what this means Lillie? Someone took us saying our words about waking up in 1968 and made it come true. But who?"

Lillie said. "I don't know. But we'll make the most of it."

Gary and Lillie, for better or worse, were now living in 1968. They were going to experience a number of major events of the final months of the 1960s and throughout the 1970s.

As they lived through the rest of the 1960s, they purchased the latest hit records on 33 and 45 RPM. One such record was by a band known as The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was a cover of a Bob Dylan song called "All Along the Watchtower".

They also saw the biggest hit movies of 1968 and 1969. Such movies included Oliver!, Rosemary's Baby, Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and True Grit.

They also enjoyed the hit TV shows of the late 1960s – two shows that stood out were Mission: Impossible and Mannix.

As they grew older, they considered marriage, officially tying the knot in 1979, just as the calendar turned to 1980. They ended up having 4 kids.

It was an adventure they would never forget.

So what do you think of this drabble? I'm a big fan of pop culture of the past. So this was pretty easy to write.
