One more chance
Sakura: Hello!
Edo: You made me a girl again!
Sakura: -_- *in a whiny voice* I can't help it! Anyways, this a one shot on the day DD adopted Edo!
DD looked at the woman before him. She was an elderly lady in her seventies who ran an orphanage. He had just killed a man a week ago, and heard his daughter was here. He smiled and cleared his throat.
"I'm sorry to intrude, but I was wondering if there were any children here I could adopt?" He asked in his most charming voice. The woman, by the name of Sarah Hiller, smiled as she led him into a room full of children. He walked around, some of them having the courage to walk up to him and ask him a few questions. They knew he was a famous duelist. He smiled at them all as they walked up to him. He even signed a few autographs. Then two police officers walked in. the first was a man with black hair and brown eyes, the other was a woman with green hair and sky blue eyes. They walked up to a lone child with silver hair and cerulean eyes. They knelt down and looked her in the eyes. He couldn't hear, but by the disappointed look on her face, he could tell it was bad news. Time for him to do something. Time to put his plan into action. He walked up to them casually, and smiled as he also got down on his knees. The officers left the two alone. They had other things to do.
"Hello, my name's-" he was cut off by a now excited girl.
"Kyle Jables!" She said. (Did I spell his real name right?)
"Yes, but I prefer to be called DD." The girl nodded and smiled as she walked away. She sat in a corner, looking at something that was very precious to her.* He smiled as he walked up to Sarah. She looked at him and smiled.
"Made a decision now did you?" She asked. He nodded and pointed to the child he had been talking to. She followed his finger, and gasped, "no one's ever wanted that child, they would at first, but well, she seems so closed in, are you sure?" He nodded and they walked up to the small child. They looked at her, she had a card in her hand, and she put away… somewhere. She looked up, and smiled at both DD and Sarah. Sarah smiled widely as she said in a loud voice:
"Edo, you're being adopted by DD." The other children looked up. They were slightly jealous that Edo Phoenix, ancient flower of the bird of fire, as being adopted by DD. DD didn't seem to mind as he held a hand out to Edo.
"Your father and I were old friends Edo," he said softly, but everyone in the room could hear him, "and I only just found out about his death. I promised him that if he ever had a child, I'd take care of him or her. Let's go home." Edo stared at his hand, and bit her lips.
"DD?" She asked. The man looked at her, "can you… would you… teach me how to duel?" The man nodded.
"Sure. Who knows, maybe you'll take my title!" They sealed the deal with a hand shake. DD led Edo outside, were, surprise surprise, a hoard of paparazzi was waiting. DD sighed in annoyance as Edo chuckled lightly. He looked at her and shook his head rolling his eyes. He opened the door, carrying Edo in his arms. Edo flushed at the sudden burst of lights. She hid her face in DD's chest. She knew that he would never replace her father. That he would never be able to fill in his shoes. But maybe, just maybe, he can help fill the hole on her heart.
