/Hey guys, this is just a random one-shot about my OC Toki and Blood. I tried to get a tense mood, but I think I failed epically. ^^'

"It-it's not true, is it, Blood?" For the first time since I'd come to Wonderland, I felt... afraid. I couldn't think of a single joke, a single sarcastic comment, nothing. It was like I was a different person completely.

The mafioso stared down at me with a cruel, twisted expression somewhere between miserable and joyful- no, not somewhere between, but a combination of the two. "Blood, why won't you answer?" He stroked my head softly and slowly ran his hand down my spine.

"Just listen," he whispered, "and you'll know." His voice was soothing yet unsettling. I didn't want to know the truth, to know the secret of the wonderful wonder world I had stumbled upon.

Blood pushed my head closer to his body and I heard something- something disturbing, something more unreal than you could ever imagine.

I buried my face in his chest, trying desperately to hide my tears, because the sound I heard was not a heartbeat.

It was the sound of a ticking clock.

"Blood... you... your heart... it's... it's a clock..." He was quiet for a moment.

"Are you scared of me? Do you think... that I'm a monster?"

I couldn't answer him at first, I couldn't think of what to say. Just as I was about to speak, though, he beat me to it. "You do, don't you? I knew this would happen." I moved away from him slightly, gazing up at his emerald green eyes.

"That's not it, Blood," I said, wiping away one of the tears on my face. I still couldn't find anything to say that would lighten the mood, but maybe that was better. "I just... It's so... strange. It's inhuman... But you're not a monster. You've saved me time and time again, how could I ever think that about you?"

He smiled again and leaned closer to my face, making my heart beat faster. The monotonous ticking sound coming from his chest slowly faded back into the background.

I closed my eyes, not knowing how to react. I could feel him get closer and closer.

I felt his lips meet mine and pushed him away. It was a first reaction, trust me, but I did anyway. When I looked at him he frowned and took hold of my arm. "Toki," he whispered again.

The way he said my name was so sweet and yet so strange. I loved it. Come to think of it, I loved everything about Wonderland. Even if he couldn't change because of that sound in his chest, I still loved him.

The green-eyed mafioso kissed me again, and this time I pulled him closer to me. I didn't want him to ever leave my side. "Blood, I... I love you," I told him.

His eyes met mine. "I love you, too."

/AN: XD Not the greatest one-shot ever, especcially since I didn't want Toki's jokes to turn it into a humor fic so she had to be all calm. This was inspired by the song "Yami No Kuni No Alice". It's a really good song, you should check it out ^^
