For Amy, Listen, Kat, and Lovi. Hope you guys had awesome holidays, or at least, a fun time off! Sorry this is a bit late.
Up on the rooftop, Albus paused. Out the front door came Lily, Teddy, and James, dressed in their Christmas best. Harry and Ginny soon followed, along with Nana Andromeda, and together, they looked like the picturesque Hallmark family. It was at Nana Andromeda's wishes that the family go out caroling, but, as always, Albus resisted doing so. Not that he didn't want to spend time with his family; it was simply that knocking on strangers doors and singing songs of a holiday that he wasn't supposed to celebrate wasn't part of Albus's idea of a good time.
To the top of the roof he had fled, so as to watch his family from a distance. In retrospect, perhaps it wasn't the best idea to climb to the top of an apartment building, especially when the owners of the penthouse didn't like him to begin with. However, it was a tradition he had been partaking in for the past four years, and just because he went away to school didn't mean he couldn't continue it. Perhaps it, too, wasn't smart to do this at the start of winter. He had nothing in response to that.
Baker Street was busier than he had remembered it to be. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman" was ringing between the buildings as merchants peddled their goods to passersby. People flooded the pavements, with the occasional car and lorry mixed in. Lights danced from the streets to the skies as everyone prepared for Christmas the next morning. Across the way, a family sat in their living room around a tree, opening their presents a day early.
All in all, Albus felt like the odd one out.
When the moment was right, and the timing was perfect, Albus spotted a familiar head of white-blond hair and his heart grew ten-sizes too big. The angel, for indeed, Scorpius was an angel to him now, just happened to catch his gaze and wave. After taking a few moments to ward off his parents, Scorpius was running to the building, and then whisked inside the doors.
People passed to and from while Albus waited for Scorpius to come. For a moment, he thought that the angel was just an illusion, a figment of his imagination meant to trick him into a false sense of security. Then a tap on his shoulder had a smile brightening Albus's face.
"Scorpius," he breathed. "What are you doing here?"
"Keeping you company, of course," Scorpius said as he sat down next to him. "You looked so lonely, and I couldn't just leave you here on your own." Placing his hand on top of Albus's, Scorpius leant in and placed a kiss on his cheek. "And besides, what kind of boyfriend would I be to let you be alone on Christmas Eve?"
Albus giggled lightly. "Scorpius, you do realise that I'm Jewish, right?"
A look flashed through Scorpius's eyes, as if he had forgotten the matter completely. "Love, I don't care what you are. You're mine, and I don't want you to ever be alone." This caused Albus to blush, but it was hardly noticed because of his cheeks being flushed thanks to the cold.
"Happy Christmas, Scorpius."
"Merry Hanukkah, Albus."
And happy holidays to all.
