Just Another Day

He didn't know how it had happened. He had only been there, in the thick of things and now... There had been a flash, a scream. That ugly scraping feeling against his skin as he was thrown from Aulderant to this... other place.

Now everything was different. Now they would win. He scowled. There was nothing for it. Perhaps, after all, they had been right. At any rate, all that was left to do now was either try to find a way home, or survive in this new world.

He looked around, taking in the blue decor. He was in a large hallway, doors dotting the walls to the sides of him. Each one was labeled with strange characters that he couldn't recognize... All around him, people were entering and exiting various doors, some leaving as soon as they entered. To his surprise, he could see two of the same person going into the different door at almost the same time. Replicas, perhaps?

He got up from his sitting position (he had landed on his rump) and started to walk down the hall. The doors looked the same, save for the strange symbols they were marked with. True, some looked similar, but a few were dusty, as if nobody had entered the doors in a long time.

One door happened to catch is eye. It had the image of... him on it. How strange. What's more, it looked as if the door knob had been worn down to a tiny stump from overuse. Perhaps this could lead to home. Perhaps he still had time... He entered the door.

Inside, a throng of people were crowded around a shrine of sorts. On closer inspection, the shrine was a pile of various pictures of him. The people were admiring the pictures and talking amongst each other-- something about an unused "Mystic Arte". How odd.

One girl, a girl with an image of... of that Necromancer and her printed on her shirt, looked up suddenly and spotted him. A low growl emitted from her throat and, from seemingly nowhere, she produced a rusted spoon and a bottle of yellow liquid and a salt shaker. The others in the room saw her, saw what she was growling at and did the same. As one, they leapt at him, spoons at the ready.

In the next room, a new forum goer backed away from the wall adjoining that room and the next.

"W-what's that screaming?" he asked, his voice filled with fear.

"Oh," came the casual reply, "That's just the Asch fanclub. Nothing special about that."

All throughout the night, the screaming of the certain Musto Fende echoed throughout the forum...

The End

Ending Notes: The one that first spots Van is the club president and founder, ladynadiad. At the time this was written, her avatar showed Jade bowing to Tear (a cropped image of the scene on the Tartarus). Whenever the word "him" was in italics, it was referring to Asch.
