A/N: This was written the night "Company Man" aired. Obviously things went in another direction on the show itself.
She's quiet, as quiet as he's always been. She hasn't even asked him where he's taking her - what they'll do. He's used to her questions, the way she begged him for answers. He'd waited for them, but she isn't the same girl he met under the oil derrick.
For the first time in his life, since all this started, he can speak, but now he has no words. He's spent fourteen years watching her, protecting her.
They cross into Arkansas, and the tears start. "Dad," she sobs, just that. She curls against the door, and weeps.
He wishes for silence.
