One summer morning in Hyrule,
The sun shining so bright,
An evil man named Ganondorf
Decided to pick a fight.

"I think I'll take my horse," said he,
"And ride it through the field.
I'll never stop for anything,
I'll never even yield!

"My plot will be so sinister,"
He cackled and he thought.
He knew right then his motive:
'Twas the Triforce that he sought.

So he lifted up his sword,
And he saddled up his stallion.
He took off into Hyrule Field
And kicked some dirt at Talon.

Just then, in the forest to the east,
A child had nightmares
Of evil things and happenings,
But no one seemed to care.

He dreamt of battles, long and hard,
He heard the metal clash!
He swung his strong and silver sword
And landed quite a gash!

"Wake up, wake up, you sleepy-head!"
Cried a glowing, bright blue fairy.
"I'll be your partner, we'll be friends!
Oh yeah, my name is Navi!"

"A fairy?" the boy yawned and asked,
Wiping a hand across his eyes.
"That's right," she said, "to help you out,
With dungeons and bad guys!"

"Oh Link!" she cried, her voice disdraught,
"We have a problem, too!
You're summoned to help save Hyrule
By the tree named Great Deku!"

So up he got, and traveled far,
At least two hundred feet.
He'd never seen the Deku Tree,
But finally they'd meet!

"Young Link," said he, the Deku Tree.
His voice was deep and strong.
"I need you to go inside me
And correct an awful wrong!

"I'm cursed, you see, and it is time
For me to start to die.
You must go in and break the curse,
Don't dawdle or ask why!"

So inside did our young hero go,
To save the Deku Tree.
He solved some puzzles and broke the curse,
With a little help from Navi.

"Good job," the Deku said with pride
When the lengthy task was through.
"But Link, I am still going to die,
So here's what you must do.

"I'll give you the Kokiri Emerald;
It's not so much a hastle.
All you have to do right now
Is take it to the castle!"

So off went Link with his fairy friend,
Off to save Hyrule!
He little knew the pressure that
Would surely now ensue..
