Leaving the flock was the hardest thing Fang had ever done. But, he knew that it had to be done. He was mulling over many different thoughts as he flew over the Midwest. Fangs was debating going back to the flock, and just facing an extremely angry Max. But then, what would I tell the people that I said I would meet with? 'Oh, I'm sorry. I got chicken (no pun intended), and went back to the flock.' That would just sound stupid.

Fang sighed, and landed in a tall tree. Warily, he scanned the landscape. About a mile across from where he sat was a large forest. To the right, far in the distance were a house, and a large lake. There was also a barn adjacent to the house.

Fang glanced the other way, and almost fell off his branch. A small figure rode a horse. He grinned despite himself. It was an old friend of the flock's.

I patted Midnight's neck, and looked towards the sky. It was such a beautiful day. A light breezed played with my hair. There wasn't a cloud to be seen anywhere, and the sunset was beautiful.

Midnight tossed her head, telling me that there was someone near. I felt my muscles tense, then forced myself to relax. I closed my eyes for a moment, hoping that my superhuman cat senses would catch something. My ears twitched toward a sound that came from my left. It was a rustling, probably from a bush or tree.

I opened my eyes, and glanced over to the largest tree on my property. I couldn't see anything, but that meant nothing. Whenever I'm not paying attention, I can easily be snuck up on.

I have been a bit too relaxed lately, 'cus I was pretty sure that I had slipped of Itex's or whoever's radar. I hadn't been attacked for about ten weeks, hey! It's a new record!

A fluttering sound caught my attention. A sudden dark figure shot out of the trees, scaring Midnight, and making her buck. And let's just say that I would be sore tomorrow.

Angrily, I glared up at the now approaching figure. It had black wings, was tall, had saggy black hair, and looked like an old friend.

"Fang!"

Yo! Sorry it's taken so long! This is the first weekend in forever that I haven't had homework. So, hopefully I can get these out faster now… And, sorry that it's short.
