Sakura had always been pretty, outgoing, sensible and smart. She beat both Sasuke and Naruto in the written academy exam and had even managed to answer a few questions in the first chuunin exam. She was talented girl but for some reason she was always left behind. She called weak and useless and was often told that she was in the way. No one ever acknowledged her and often forgot that she was with them on their missions.
When she caught Sasuke leaving the village she thought that she would finally get the chance to prove to her team that she was capable of being a shinobi. But as she cried and confessed her love, even as she was about to scream to stop her Sasuke-kun from leaving, she felt weak. She knew Sasuke would reject her and it broke her heart. After all she had done for him, after she had looked after him for so long during the chuunin exams; she was still considered a nuisance. She was thought of as an obsessive object that was getting in the way of his path to power. She meant nothing to him. The only words that showed a hint of love for her were the words that she hated. The words that she only heard before her world came crashing down on her. The words that were meant to start something but, for her only ended what she had cherished most.
"Thank you." These two words were the words that made her strong.
