Chapter one
"You do realize that I am still the leader of the X-laws? And you know what the X-laws want. They want your death. That is what they believe they are here to do." Jeanne said with a serious tone. "If we're seen together, anything might happen."
Suddenly, out of nowhere someone stepped in! She had straight, black hair that came just below her shoulders. Her eyes were dark brown and she looked slightly nervous. "Um… excuse me?" She said. "I -"
She couldn't complete her sentence as Hao had already taken out his spirit and was ready to attack.
"Aaahhhhhh!!!!" She screamed. "Y-you do not w-want to kill m-me. I'm supposed to live – ahhhhh!!!"
She moved back as Hao drew his sword closer to her neck. It was so close that if he had moved it a centimetre closer, he would have killed her.
"Hao." Jeanne said. "Don't do anything to her." She gently took his arm away from the girl.
"She's a human." Hao said, gritting his teeth, turning his gaze towards Jeanne.
"So are you!" The girl replied, moving towards him but as Hao faced her, she stepped back again. "S-sorry!"
"What are you doing here at this time of night and at the forest?" Jeanne asked, smiling.
"I'm sort of lost." She replied. "Can you help me please?"
"Where do you live?" Jeanne asked.
"It's actually quite far from here. Patch village." She replied.
"That's where Hao lives." Jeanne said, smiling. Hao glared at her but Jeanne ignored him. "Hao can take you there tomorrow but for tonight, you must come with me. You need a place to stay."
"Thanks." She smiled. "Who's Hao?"
"Him." Jeanne said, pointing to Hao. "And I'm Jeanne."
"I'm Khusi. Nice to meet you both." She said. "So, where are we going?"
"Hao has to go somewhere but you can come with me." Jeanne smiled. "Hao?"
"Huh?" Hao said.
"Come back right here at sunrise tomorrow." Jeanne said. "You'll have to take her back to Patch village and you don't have a choice." Jeanne said, adding a dangerous 'I'm serious' stare. "We are to help her."
The X-laws"Who is she?" Marco asked as soon as Jeanne entered their headquarters. "What is she doing here?"
"She's lost." Jeanne replied. "She is staying here tonight."
"Do what you think is right Jeanne-sama but remember what I told you about spies being around." Marco said and left.
"Hey! Did he just cal me a spy?" Khusi said. "I am NOT a spy."
"Don't mind Marco. He's just a bit too overprotective." Jeanne smiled leading her to a huge bedroom.
"Do you really have to leave me with Hao?" Khusi said. "He tried to kill me. Remember?"
Jeanne smiled. "He's not that scary once you get to know him." Jeanne replied. "You'll be fine. Trust me."
"If you say so." Khusi said, yawning.
"You can sleep on the bed and I'll make myself comfortable on the floor." Jeanne said.
"Thanks." Khusi said, smiling at Jeanne. "But is Hao always that mad or is it just sometimes."
Jeanne laughed. "He's not really."
"That's good then." Khusi replied. "Goodnight Jeanne."
"Goodnight Khusi."
