Chapter One: Remus's Secret

Disclaimer: Harry Potter isn't mine, guys. I'm sure you know that.

"Bloody hell Remus. How could you do that? Are you part dog or something?" Sirius asked incredulously, holding up the chocolate Remus had found blindfolded.

Remus tensed momentarily at Sirius's words. He choked out a laugh. "I guess so."

Peter yawned and climbed beneath his sheets. "I'm turning in."

They chorused a goodnight. As he tossed and turned, a nearly-asleep Peter said perfectly audibly and clearly, "He sort of is part dog. I mean, he's a werewolf, so close enough."

Smacking him in the head with a pillow, James began to tell him to shut it when he froze and turned to look, eyes wide, at Remus.

"Is that true?" James asked.

Remus braced himself. He had expected this. The moment he would lose his friends.

"Er... yes."

Silence.

"I-I can- I'll just- go..."

He started to move to the common room, resigning himself to sleep out there.

"Why?"

"What?"

"Why are you leaving?"

"I'm a monster. I could kill you."

Sirius shrugged. "A meteor could hit the Earth tomorrow and wipe us all out. So what? Carpe diem."

James nodded. "Yeah. We're not going to let you down. All for one and one for all!"

Remus raised an eyebrow. "Where did you get that?"

"I heard Evans say it. I guess it's a Muggle reference."

"It is."

"Did I use it right?"

"Surprisingly, yes."

A/N: Is it cheesy? Hell yes. Do I care? Hell no. Here's two new stories, both with short first chapters. Sorry I didn't update Unexpected Turn, but you know how it is. I'm obnoxious and have a ten-second attention span and never reliably update a single story. So what? Get used to it.

~~~J, a friend. "Sanctissimi cordis, quam acerrimi annimi!"
