A/N: Okay, I'm not too fond of A/N's, but I felt a need to say this. I saw the movie yesterday (the release day!) and fell in love with this couple! I think this ship will do quite well within the Narnia fandom, so I thought they deserved a proper name. Let's all call them SusPian! Indeed.

"The Prince Who Cried War"

By Maggie's Revenge

The Pevensie siblings were enjoying a warm summer day together in their yard one hot morning.

Peter and Edmund were dueling in a game of chess, sipping occasionally at glasses of chilled lemonade as they wiped the sweat from their brows.

"Ha!" Edmund cried triumphantly. "Checkmate!" He grinned as he collected his pieces. "Want another go?"

Peter sighed. "No, it's too hot to think straight."

Edmund narrowed his eyes. "Too bad, we're playing again." He huffily set up Peter's pieces for him as his brother rested his cheek in his hand.

"I'd rather be with the girls, Ed." He watched them longingly, wishing to join them as they sprayed each other with a hose amidst peals of laughter. "At least they're not stuck playing chess in this sweltering heat."

"Well, if you don't want to play, perhaps I could help you shove this rook up your…"

But Peter never got to hear where exactly Edmund thought the rook belonged because a low drone overtook his sentence. Peter sat up and looked in shock to each of his siblings; Edmund with his sweaty shirt stuck to his chest, blank faced as the rook fell from his hand; Lucy halted under a shower of water, her laughter caught in her throat; and Susan in her bathing suit, perhaps more alarmed than the others combined.

"That was…" she started in a quiet voice.

Peter nodded. "The horn we left with Caspian."

A fierce wind surrounded them, knocking over the chess set and stirring through the grass. Peter immediately grabbed hold of Edmund's hand, who seemed to have already joined up with the girls. He clenched his jaw as colors swam before his eyes and the grassy lawn fell from beneath his feet. He squeezed his eyes shut against the stinging air.

What danger had befallen Narnia? How bad could it be that Caspian had to send for the retired kings and queens? The prince was strong, he should have been able to handle anything!

As the wind settled, he felt hesitant opening his eyes. Did he really want to see the damage of a terror so great it couldn't have been handled without them?

But he couldn't keep his eyes closed forever, and blinked rapidly as he squinted into the harsh sunlight. He found himself not in a war-torn land, but on a beach with clear water rolling gently onto the sand only to be drawn back again by the tide.

"Caspian!" A delighted cry resounded as Susan ran forward to great the (unharmed) prince. He held her hand and smiled broadly at her.

"Care for a swim?" he asked, eyeing her swimsuit appreciatively.

Peter groaned. Caspian had done it again. The young man stood with their sister in the sand, clad in a pair of shorts and holding her horn loosely in his hand.

Lucy was mildly amused. "I wonder why he always calls us only to spend the day with Susan?"

As the couple ran into the waves, Edmund turned to leave. "If he does this again, I'm not coming. I don't care if there really is a war, that guy can't be trusted with a horn."

"Agreed." Peter turned to join his brother and they left Susan to play in the water with the foolish prince as Lucy watched curiously.

Fin.
