Day Of Darkness
Innocence.
That's what he saw on that fateful day.
An innocent, like no other.
That's what he loved about her. That's what pushed him to protect her. He didn't want the innocence to fade, but he saw it. He saw her innocence leave in a flash, and leave her broken. He couldn't let it happen. He knew where, when and what he was going to do about it.
After seeing her in the tunnel with the others he became infatuated. Her beauty was unmatched. Her long hair swayed as she turned and her eyes shone through the darkness that he'd become so accustomed to. He felt the connection, and when her eyes met his he felt at peace. Nothing could compare to it. He almost forgot his purpose for being there. He'd always thought that his life was to steal other's Bit Beasts but now he'd found a new purpose.
A new reason.
To protect and worship her.
That was his greatest dream, his goal and ambition. The thing that kept him going.
Each breath he took for her.
Each step he took for her.
Each heartbeat, all for her.
For the first time in his life, his mind was in turmoil. He couldn't decide.
Should he stop her fate?
Or leave her be?
Once he'd decided he needed to be fast. He had to get to her first.
He stood at the entrance to the alleyway when he saw her coming. He melded into the shadows. He'd seen them too. She glanced back in panic that she was being followed. Turning back fear hit her as a group of men approached her with a glint in their eyes. She turned to flee but was picked up from behind before she could take a single step and thrown into the alley. She crawled to her feet and bolted to the other end hoping that it wasn't a dead end.
Wrong.
The wall scaled halfway up the buildings that it was planted snugly in between.
She couldn't climb.
She couldn't run.
She was trapped.
She had nowhere to go.
No one to help.
No one.
He couldn't bear it anymore. They'd gotten close enough. One grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly. That made him snap. He appeared at the end of the alleyway causing the men to turn to see what had made the sudden shadow behind them. They expected him to run. No such luck. He disappeared into the shadows and reappeared behind the man that had grabbed her. He gabbed his straightened hand through the man's chest. The man gave a shriek then fell to the floor once he'd recoiled his hand once again. The other men stared in horror. She looked quite scared too but also relieved. He took down the other men in a flash and appeared in front of her. She retracted further into the corner she had been forced into. He knelt down to her level and placed his bloodstained hand in front of his shadowed out face. He put it closer to hers. She recoiled further obviously unwanting of the gesture that he considered to be polite. He pulled his hand back and put it to his lips. He lapped up the fresh blood causing her to ponder her saviour. He glanced up at her confused eyes then at the ground nervously. His eyes shot up into a stare, as he got slowly closer to her. So close that she could feel his warm breath on her cold skin. Only inches separated them when a sudden flash of sustaining light entered the alleyway. He had no choice. He had to leave her. He melded into the shadows once again as an officer approached her. His beloved. He'd done it. He'd saved her innocence.
