If in this thing I have
lost you, and lose
with you the Secret
of my Heart, (an
honest thing in brittle
wrapping) I dare you
turn! And say it
isn't true,
or worse:
It wasn't worth
the time.
I dare you say my aim
is high, I dare you
speak your mind.
For all the world
I dare it, Dear,
but I do not ask it.
AN: I was wondering what might have been going through the Janitor's head after he told Elliot how he felt. He isn't the most open of people and I can imagine he may have been preparing himself for her to turn around and destroy him. He would put a brave face on it, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt.
