It was odd, Hermione had been so excited to get away from her childhood woes and she was entangled in even more of a mess than before. Hermione nervously stepped into Platform 9¾, almost everyone was in bizarre outfits that she knew to be common in the Wizarding world. She waved goodbye to her parents, both dentist and climbed aboard the train. She was growing up at a young age.

She sat down in the first vacant compartment she saw. After all , who would want to be friends with the bookworm?

A boy with platinum blonde hair peeked in.

"I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."

Hermione tried not to laugh at the way he introduced himself. "I'm Hermione Granger."

"Granger?" Malfoy asked.

"Yes."

"I don't recognize that name, muggle-born, are you?"

"Yes," Hermione didn't know that Malfoy was prejudice incarnate just yet. "Why?"

"You don't belong here, mudblood. Just go home."

He left her siting alone slightly dumbfounded.

When she offered to help Neville find his toad she asked everyone, many people greeted her with cold glances. When she opend Malfoy's compartment she turned around immediately, she didn't want to deal with his insults.

She though miserably, We haven't even gotten to school yet and I'm already being bullied. She decided then and there that she would prove Malfoy and his so-called-friends wrong. She did belong here.

She opened up a compartment with two boys that looked roughly her age-one really looked more like an eight or nine year old- and asked if them if they had seen a toad. Then she acted a bit know-it-allish.

She heard Ron, the red-haired boy, say he didn't want to be in the same House as her.

She faced the facts, she would be just as lonely as she was in primary school here. So, she tried to be the best at everything. The potions master made this impossible, he was almost worse than the kids her age. She was a know-it-all and a disruption to the class.

When she heard Ron and Harry talking, and Ron's admittance that she had no friends, she cried in a way she never had before. She sat in the girl's bathroom for hours and refused to leave until Ron and Harry rescued her. She still resented Ron, but her desire to have friends over-took her, and the three became closer than many people ever become. Nothing could break them apart, as long as they lived.

A/N: Okay, this is for a challenge. I'm having difficulty coming up with my own plots so, challenges it is. Yes, writing is very much necessary for me. Anyway, Modern Family marathons every Friday! Yeah, I adore that show.

This challenge was for the "Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenge"(HPFC) forum for the "Fanfiction terms challenge competition."

The promt was "Private Message-Write about someone lonely."

Thanks and, if you have any questions about anything, I'm open to them. I can't promise an answer to everything, I will respond to you, though. And if I don't have an answer refer you to someone who would.

And now I sound like a car salesmen. Okay, I'm going to sign off before I make anymore of a fool of myself.
