"Kuroba's…. I have… to get to….Kuroba's!"

Hakuba Saguru was quickly losing consciousness. The pill- whatever it was- was seemingly working it's magic. He really shouldn't have been walking down an alleyway late at night.

"My blood… it's boiling! I can barely feel my legs…"

Hakuba limped a bit further, coming across Kuroba's driveway.

"I can almost-"

A blood-curtling scream rang through the night.

Kuroba Kaito was expecting silence that night. No Aoko, no Hakuba, no Akako. Just silence. Which is why he ran out in a hurry when he heard a scream, one that sounded exactly like Hakuba. He ran outside, expecting to see Hakuba hurt or something along the lines of that. Instead, there as a child. Buried under a pile of clothes.

"Ha-Hakuba?"

He crept closer, checking if the kid was alright. To his relief, the bundle slowly turned. What came after was the bad news he'd been scared of.

"Is that my name? Hakuba..?"

Two brown eyes slowly opened. This couldn't be possible. No, it shouldn't be possible.

" Where am I..? Who're you?"

"Um.. let's go inside, so we can find you smaller clothes. Okay?"

Kaito was starting to panic, and people were starting to come outside. The kid, Hakuba, whoever he was, stared for a second, before nodding and following him into the house.

Mini-Hakuba, as Kaito had taken to calling him, was shown to be a rather talkative kid.

"Oniichan? What's your name?"

After that,

"Kaito-nii, what're you doing?"

And after that,

"Kaito-nii do you know me?"

That one was the only question Kaito had trouble answering.

"Um.. maybe. I only met you twenty minutes ago, remember?"

Mini-Hakuba nodded.

"It's just, you called me Hakuba earlier, so I thought you knew me."

Kaito smiled, poker face set.

" You remind me of my friend, Hakuba Saguru. So I thought you were his cousin or something, okay?"

He sat down, Mini-Hakuba following suit

. "Can I use that name? I like it. It reminds me of something."

That comment was weird. Maybe this kid really, was Hakuba. Maybe.

"Sure, but you're going to need a first name, too." Mini-Hakuba blinked, like he just realized that. Heck, he probably did.

"How about, Yuji?" Kaito offered. That sounded nice, right?

Mini-Hakuba thought for a minute, his hand to his chin. Hakuba-tantei style.

"Hakuba Yuji…...okay!"

Mission Complete, awkward conversation avoided.

Kaito did not realize he had to leave Yuji alone for most of the day. Luckily for him, Yuji was okay with it.

"Now Yuji-kun, you're going to be alright here, right?"

Yuji smiled.

"Yes, Kaito-nii."

"And you won't break anything, right?"

"No, Kaito-nii."

"And you know where the food is, right?"

"Yes, Kaito-nii."

"You won't answer the door if someone knocks, right?"

"Of course, Kaito-nii."

He hopes this won't end in chaos.
