The Forest
As Janice and I dragged ourselves slowly down the never-ending path, a cold wind brushed past our faces. Janice had long, curly brown hair and pale skin. Her blue eyes twinkled in the moonlight as we turned a sharp corner. Up ahead we could just about make out a forest. As we walked closer, I realised that this was the place that had been talked about a lot recently. Two young boys claimed to have seen a terrifying creature with a bony face and petrifying red eyes. I stared at the tall trees for a moment or two- taking it all in. Could there really be a creature? Suddenly, I heard loud footsteps coming towards me. The creature had piercing red eyes and a pale, bony face. It's teeth were brown and it's skin was wrinkled. The creature's hair was as wild as a bush and its body was as tall and lanky as a tree. I could feel the encircling claws closing in on me, making me feel tense and queasy. I kicked and scratched the creature's hand- hoping that it would let me go. I screamed furiously for help, but no one came to my rescue. I kept scanning the forest in front of me, wishing that this was all just a dream. But I knew deep down that it wasn't.
I caught sight of Janice's body on the ground by a tree. "Janice! Over here!" I cried. But she didn't move at all. She was dead. Her beautiful curly hair was covered in dirt and soil, and her slender face was dripping with deep red blood.
Tears ran down my face as I thought of what might happen next. As if on cue, the creature picked up a silver dagger from the ground and held it ready to—
