Hey, thanks for clicking on my story, please drop a reveiw if you've got the time. The next chapter should be up soon.

Lance breathed heavily as he ran for his life. He didn't know who or what he was running from, but after seeing both his caravan guards heads pop with the roar of a high caliber rifle, the only thing he cared about was getting as much ground between himself and the threat as his legs would allow. What the hell was that! Lance thought he came up on a ledge. There was no pack bramin, no wagon, no visible merchandise! He jumped from the ledge without looking to see how far he would fall, and as he hit the soft dessert sand three and a half metres bellow he thanked god he hadn't been traveling farther north where a reckless jump would cost you your life. Lance got back to his feet and gave a quick glance to the top of the ledge before darting off in the other direction. no guns, no chems, no caps, nothing! Just that stupid platinum chip! His eyes widened as the word echoed in his head. The fucking chip! He had known there was something strange about the job ever since the file had been handed to him. six hundred caps plus expenses for delivering a package smaller than his hand? two elite mercenary guards for a worthless piece of metal? The courier s thoughts were interrupted as a voice echoed from behind him. "There he is! Take him down!" The blast of a shotgun rang out and a patch of earth exploded mere inches from Lances legs.

He ran faster, faster than he had ever run before, and as another shot rang out, the puzzle began to solve itself. The token in his satchel must of had a value far greater than its appearance had led him to beleive, mabey it was a key to a vault full of advanced pre war technology, or a miniature holo tape with information that would win the NCR s war against the legion.

suddenly a third shot rang out and Lance felt the blow in his back, knocking him off his feet and to the ground in a cloud of dust. As his vision went black and his world went silent, his thoughts of the chip returned.

It had been valuable enough to fight for, to kill for, but was it great enough to die for?
