A tortoiseshell tom flew out of the tunnel. His fur was matted with blood. The tom's yellow eyes glowed with fury as he ran through the trees and out of Clan territory. He was Sol.

Sol had lived in a Twolegplace with many cats, but one day he left to find the legendary sun-drown place. There at the cliffs he found a star-gazing badger named Midnight. She told of four Clans north of the sun-drown place. He went to them and told them of the vanishing sun. He was cast out by them and he went way south and met SkyClan in a gorge. He tried to become a warrior but their leader, Leafstar, did not trust him.

Sol returned to the lake and caused a battle between ThunderClan and WindClan. That is where he just came from. He continued to run and run. He finally stopped when he came to a clearing. Sol caught two voles and swallowed them in a few bites. He fell asleep; very tired after the battle he fought the previous day.

He woke to see a dark brown tom with a pale yellow she-cat standing over him. "Get out of our territory!" the she-cat hissed.

Sol sprang up quickly. "I'm sorry; I didn't know anyone lived here."

The tortoiseshell tom continued north. Many days passed and Sol hadn't found the right place to stay. The weather got colder as he went north. Finally, on the eighth day, Sol found a small waterfall trickle down into a pool that was in a dip in a hillside.

Several moons passed and Sol stayed safe. He continued to think about the Clans and the great battle he had learned about from Midnight that loomed before them. Sol almost decided to turn back and seek peace from them, but he like his pool too much. One day Sol went out to hunt. A squirrel found his paws and he took its life quickly and ate it. A loud crash erupted from somewhere.

Sol went towards the source of the sound and found a Twoleg monster. It was making noises and a Twoleg sat inside of its belly. The Twoleg had many open wounds. Sol was worried about it so it ran up to the Thunderpath and yowled. A monster stopped and three Twolegs came out. Sol pointed with his tail at the crashed monster.

Sol took off back into the woods. His pool awaited him, still tucked away in the hillside. Sol was eating a mouse when he heard a twig snap. Sol turned to see a black-and-white badger standing before him. It smacked Sol with one of its huge paws.

Everything went dark; Sol's life had ended.

Sol did some terrible things in his life, such as turning ShadowClan against StarClan and leading WindClan into battle against ThunderClan, but he saved that Twoleg. Was there some good in him after all? If he had not learned of all of the Clans' secrets from Midnight would his life have been different?
