Challenge Fic – Something Old, Something New

'That's the last of my things, guess I'll be going now,' he looked up from his laptop and locked eyes with the blonde who was soon to be his ex-wife.

'Okay, guess I'll see you when I see you,' he replied. She bit down hard on her lip and turned on her heel before slamming the lounge door behind her.

He knew that he'd hurt her, he never should have married her in the first place. He'd almost changed his mind on the day of the wedding but went through with it because he didn't want to disappoint anyone. Now a year down the line their marriage was done and all he could feel was relief.

He had loved Jenna but only ever as a friend, he couldn't give her what she really wanted. He didn't want kids, he had never wanted a wife, he'd tried to be 'normal' and he couldn't cope with it. At least now he could just tell everyone that he'd tried marriage and was never going to do it again, he'd never have to pretend to be happy.

Of course he felt awful for hurting Jenna, she had found someone else now but he knew that deep down she still loved him and he'd never forgive himself for hurting her like he had. He hoped that she would be happy with her new guy and he'd give her what she wanted, he was sure he would.

Setting his laptop back on his thighs he continued to trawl through the hundreds of emails that had popped up in his inbox whilst he'd been fishing. Most of them were complete junk but he still felt like he needed to check them all just in case he missed something important.

He was about to click on an email from one of his friends when a loud beep came from the speakers signifying that a new email and been sent to his inbox. He scrolled to the top of the page and saw that he had received a new message from Sig.

'You have GOT to see this!'

The subject of the email raised an eyebrow, knowing Sig he'd probably sent him some pictures of a naked chick or something. He thought about ignoring it for the time being but for some reason he decided to open it right away.

When he clicked to open the message his eyes were immediately drawn to a link which Sig had placed at the top of the page. He'd never heard of something called 'Fan Fiction' before in his life and he wondered what the hell his boss was doing sending him a link to some random website.

Shaking his head he let his eyes fall upon the short paragraph that Sig had written beneath the link.

'First of all, believe it or not, I am NOT responsible for any of the stories on that website! Especially not the one called 'Bering Brokeback' that I have sent you the link too! I was bored and had some time on my hands so I started to um, Google myself. YES I know but I know damn well that everyone else does that shit too! Anyway, I came across this freaky as shit website where fans of the show actually write stories about us! And not just Hansel and Gretel type shit, I'm talking Fifty Shades of WHAT THE FUCK in some cases! Like this story I've sent you, oh fuck I wish I could see your face when you start reading! When you are done, if you can stomach the whole thing that is, pass it on to lover boy to see what he thinks ;-)'

'Lover boy? What the fuck is he even?'

He didn't know whether to just delete the email and forget about it, chances were it was either a prank by Sig or Edgar. He let his mouse hover over the link for an eternity before deciding what to do.

'It's not as if I have anything fucking better to do,' he sighed before clicking onto it and taking a deep breath as he started to read…..
